Yields: What, if anything am i doing wrong.

Ive been growing indoors for awhile now, going on ten years since my first grow. The last nine years I vegged under a 250 MH and flowered under a 430 watt HPS, mainly growing AK47, blueberry and hindukush. When flowered at 12-14 inches I would typically get 1-1/5 ozs per plant.

This past fall I switched to vegging under 5 4 foot long T5's, putting plants into flower under a 1000 watt HPS when they reached 16-18 inches, and I am still getting the same yield (1-1.5 ozs per plant).

I am growing in soil, feeding with earth juice products. For my feeding schedule I feed every other watering.

Temps are fine, never gets above 80 dgs....no nutrient problems, no bugs other than fungus gnats that I am fighting with mosquito dunks.

The strains that I am using now are bog bubble and sourlifesaver...the bogbubble yields slightly better than the SLS, but not by much.

Do I need to grow these taller to get a good yeild? I mean 1-1.5 ozs per plant under a 1000 watt HPS sees so low.

I'm sort of in the same situation, so to remedy it, I am lsting and vegging atleast two weeks longer then normal, probably a month....Longer veg + bigger lights = bigger yield. Just let them mature a little more in veg and your yield will increase.

You say per plant, that means more than one, but does not indicate how many.
its a closet 4.5 feet long, 4 feet wide, 16 feet total height available.

I run 4-5 plants in there at a time, and have it timed so that every 30 days two are finishing up.

Thats your problem guy. I use 1,000watt hp/hps and let me tell you my 2' plants yield a solid 2oz per plant. So your right about average. Just start learning more about the plant and what it needs, I have a 1/2oz per plant until I started learning about plant life in general. They all require the same thing but in different ammounts and once you learn why they need it and what it does then you can start growing truely organic. Dont use any organics in a bottle, their just glorified chem ferts. (I know some disagree but so what, I harvested 1lb 1/2 easter sunday) And dont let people steer you wrong, mollassos is virtually the same thing as the "Bud Densing" stuff you overpay for. I use blackstrap and never have looked back. Thats just one of the MANY supplements to lower your nutes cost. Example, to grow that easter harvest I spent $20.00 on nutrients.

two things come to mind, size of the pot you are using & age of the bulb? Both of these will greatly affect your yield.

"Thats your problem guy" -> not exactly sure what this means..do you mean number of plants?

As for nutes, Im listening. What do you suggest?

Im saying run low wattage expect lower weight, but the correct nutrients help.

This is proven by me and many others.

I grow 12 each time, 1-2oz per (I grow in very close quarters so grow short plants) I average now 1-2lb per grow.

I use Soil that is made out in my garden. Old family secret that im just starting to use.

I Buy MG Vegetable Ferts for my Veg garden outside and use this very lightly in late veg weeks with marijuana. - $15.00 (This is enough for two seasons in my backyard veg garden and I only use like a tablspoon in total late veg weeks when the MG stuff runs dry of soil.)

I Buy MG Bloom Boost 15-30-15 For flowering. (Use very little to supplement organic mix)

I buy a carton of Epsom Salt $3.00

I buy a large bottle of Blackstrap like $5.00

I buy the Neem oil for pest control $10.00 (Use once week through veg and up to the 2'nd week of flower and see no bugs.)

I use my chickens eggshells powdered for calcium.

I use their waste in my mulches(soil)

I buy a bottle of Fish Emultion and mix it in accordingly (You have to experiment and find your mix on all these) $5.00

I might be forgetting something but this seems like the list. I rarely use ANY chemical ferts. The MG is here just in case im a little weak here and there and lets face it, mother nature needs a chem kick now and then. I rely mostly on what my mulch piles provide me and the organic supplements that I listed above. My smoke turns out very tasty and doesnt have that VERY common chem taste you find from the corner dealer or in my case, the collectives.

My entire cost of a 1lb grow is roughly $200.00 and this encludes electricity and everything. From the time I plant my clone to harvest. Now outside temps changes that but still, find a lb of quality medicinal bud for even $500

OH, as for mixes you really have to do research. I can only suggest this, start anything you use at 1/4 tsp and you should be alright. I dont add all these togeather. I have learned to read the plants and give it what it needs. You will too just use google for what its meant for.

T

I dont really consider a 1000 watt HPS to be lower wattage, but the take home message is that since I am flowering when they are at 18" or so in height, my 1.5 oz-2.0 oz per plant is normal for that wattage and if i want bigger yields grow more plants and grow them taller before flowering. Correct?
