maybe with all he walls covered with t5's but thats way out of budget for yah, a lb off cfls could be done but it would be hot and god knows how the fuck you would arrange them all(couldnt be done with a bunch of large you would need a lot of small ones to get the proper light intensity)

shit man would go 400w HPS and MH with some cfl side lighting or in my case some UV lighting you could pull an lb.

you can get Bay Lights off CL and DIY them pretty easy. CFL pounds would be somehing to see tho, you wont be saving on any elec or heat tho. cause you gonna need MASS bulbs to support a pounds worth of a weed plant or plants

Obviously this is silly. It will never be done. I see more and more people growing with CFLs and I cant see why. They are not efficient, the lumen depreciation is fast, there is very little canopy penetration and, contrary to popular belief, 400 watts of CFLs will need to be cooled just like a 400 hps.

Before I bought my 8 bulb t5, I tried adding 5 cfls in an old vanity fixture with a piece of reflective underlayment for laminate flooring. Sure, it worked. But that 200w of cfl raised the temp of my room about 15 degrees. My 8 bulb t5 runs way cooler than the 4 bulb t5 + cfl.

Nobody mentioned how unhealthy growing with that many cfl's is. There is a thing called cfl sickness and it can be very nasty especially if you use cheap Chinese bulbs that are poorly built,fail/explode easily and leak toxic gasses. For $500 you can get a 1000W Mh/hps combo light and everything needed to grow a Lb of bud besides the seeds. The amount of heat and risk to yourself and your property from using that many cfls to grow an imaginary Lb of bud is not worth it.

I remember reading a post here on this site long time ago about a CFL that smashed over some poor cunts plants n he started a thread on if it was safe to smoke with it being covered with poisons...what a clown

Thats a tall order there buddy , honestly couldn't answer , however it would require LOADS of them and LOADS of small plants, to even have a chance.

Go with a 600 hps and a few nice sized plants and work from there. Will be much better result .

Cfl's work well - in a small area! People just assume that they can scale that up to "Grow Room" size with good results, the problem is it just doen't work that way!

1. A few Cfl's, as an initial investment, are cheap. Several dozen CFL's - not so much!
2. Cfl's are inefficient (way less lumens per watt, about half of what an HID produces). For a few CFL's that may be insignificant, but for several dozen CFL's - you are paying through the nose for "wasted" electricty. Do the math!
3. As mentioned above, even though a few CFL's run "fairly cool", several dozen CFL's create one hell of a collective heat problem - comparable to HID's.

Like I said, CFL's are fine for small areas - maybe around 2 square feet or less. Anything over 3 square feet and it's HID all the way home.

i agree there, using a load of cfls will be hot, your best option is hps, trust what people are saying here, get a 1000w hps and you could get your dream
