Yield difference between 4x4 and 5x5

Getting a new light on payday it’s more than enough par for a 5x5 and gonna need to be dimmed if I stay in my 4x4 plan was to upsize eventually but I do have 9 plants in it, about how much bigger a yield would I be looking at with a couple weeks more veg and the wider canopy?

yes I know “ about a pound”

all things being equal, 4x4 is 16 sq ft, you are going up to 25 sq ft should be roughly 1/3 more canopy and buds depending on your ability?

the real answer is, how much will you yield running both the 4x4 and 5x5 :D
I wish that were an option, but my space is limited to the room I rent in a friends house which is also my bedroom

Honestly my brother used too run 4 plants in a 4x4 with 1000watt air cooled hps and yield 500-600grams of dry nug. So if you have the space too put a 5x5 the real question is why not? Id guess you would yield 750grams++ but thats just me guessing ive never grown in a 5x5.
My 2 cents upgrade too the 5x5 and buy a rosin press :) also what light did you end up getting? Im qurious

Not the popular opinion when one is trying to talk themselves into spending more money, BUT, why not do a run in the 4x4 and see how it does with the new light, log the grow, make notes, see what needs work and if you max out that tent. If you do, next time, scoop up a 5x5, do the same run again and then compare notes, conditions, yield, etc...

And as sandman said, all things dialed in for environments, 5x5 should net about 1/3 more than a 4x4 tent.

Getting the fce 8000 with the uv ir bars, under 600 with the discount codes

Plants should be able to handle the switch alright. They’re holding up alright with the 630cmh hung at pretty much ceiling level

Used to sog in a 4x4 with an open hood 1000w started flowering at under 1ft they’d get 2-3 I’d usually pull 1.5-2lb

OK so here's an idea. . ..go to Coco For Cannabis website and get on his Grow Light Calculator. . .. look up, lets say the Mars Hydro FC light that covers 4x4 and then find the FC light that covers 5x5. ..within his calculations is expected/approximate yield. That should give you actual numbers to shoot for.

The reason I say use the FC light specifically, is so that it's a bit more fair in terms of 4x4 vs 5x5 not using different brand lights, the spectrum should pretty much be the same, just more watts & more spread.

i checked coco for cannabis and it says
Coverage
28.1 Sq.Feet

Harvest Potential
  • 1006 - 1372
    grams
  • 35.9 - 49.0
    ounces
so its saying that if u use this light in 28 sq ft grow space you can yield 35-49oz ? or am i wrong af?
also this thing uses 800 watt's you best get a 5x5 and use it at full power <3 :3 imagine all that bud bro! i was thinking 750grams++ but coco for cannabis says 1000 grams ++ OMEGAW WTF....

I just finished my first run in my 5x5 after 4 years in a 4x4. I didn't stack it or veg until the canopy was full but I did just break my all time yield record this run by 34%. I didn't realize it as the space is so much bigger the plants looked average in comparison but the dry weight was shocking. If you really packed plants in or vegged some bigger ones to fill the entire 25 sq ft you should be able to hit 3 pounds easily and more as it gets dialed in or with heavy yielding strains. Go with the 5x5, I wish I'd done it years ago.

The light will draw 640 from the plug but I never ran it at full power as my canopy was too tall. It needs a good bit of clearance at full power. I'd say at least 24" and I was 17" from the top of the canopy so I couldn't crank it.
With our states wacky growing laws we can grow 4 plants but aren't allowed more than an ounce of possession as far as flower goes. I'll just say it was more than I want to disclose on the forum. Yield was 1.5 grams per watt of what power I did use to give you an idea of the lights efficiency. I was very happy with the Spider Farmer. I'm flipping early this run as I really don't need to have a big crop in 12 weeks. Just want to see how these strains do.

If Dr. MJ Coco says it can be done, then it can be done! ;) but you have to have all your other environmental factors in check, and also have a high yielding plant. What he bases those numbers on, I'm sure you can find somewhere on the site.

They left it vague in VA but growing up with a judge for a father I realize that's to their advantage. They can hit you with a felony here if you have too much on you but don't discuss if that's on your person in public or what you grow that's stored in a safe location at home. Hopefully we can get a couple new politicians elected to make some common sense changes to our laws.

I run a 4x8 tent. Wish I would have did a 5x10. If you can fit the 5x5 do it you’ll be glad you did. One of my cousins runs a 5x5 and it’s got a shit ton of room and he pulls massive yields.

I have just moved from a 4x8 to a 5x10 tent recently hopefully my first run in the 5x10 was shit due to bad start and very little veg time for quickness, this one should be a lot better
