Yet another LED thread..

Who is using these? I'm always intrigued by LEDs, and I was thinking about going ahead and buying 4x125 LEDs. That's about 1300$, so it's not ridiculously expensive by any means, but it's a decent chunk, and more importantly, i hate to give up teh floor space for a cycle only to find that their performance was shitty.

So as we move to the midway point of 2010, any new insight on LEDS? How about in veg? or as supplemental lighting? Anything?

i believe there might be something to them, but I'm also wary that LEDS just have too far to go yet, until a really great product is being produced. I'm worried that it is still in too much of a infantile stage, and needs another year before the 660nm LEDS get to a price point to make them viable.

I use one 90w ufo in a 3x6 room that's wall to wall to ceiling with white visqueen. I have one clone I've been vegging for over a month that is growing outstandingly + 9 seedlings I just transplanted in 1 gal bags. Ill post pics soon. Since I put the clone in a 3 gal bag it absolutely shot up and bushed out like crazy and its veeeeeeeeeeeeeeery green and healthy. Oh, and its my first grow too. Ill post pics of my set up and my girls later tonight under the noobie thread, check back!!

wow nice shit, cool to see one in a scrog. So hillbilly, are you going to finish those girls with LEDS? The idea of substituting a 1k with 3x125 LED , is intriguing me.

I own a 330w Lumigrow LED light. I purchased this light for my first grow bout a year ago and i have to say i was not impressed. Now mind you it was my first grow and i did stunt them a few times with too much nutes, but i still think that the technology is not cheap enough to offer us a working light at a decent price. The unit i have is 330w with 58 5w LED's. I think 15w LED's will compete with a 1000w HPS, But untill that time they just dont have enough penetrating power to get deep into that canopy. You have a very small "sweet spot" with 5w LED's, and god help the people with those 1w units. So on my second grow I purchased 2 1000w HPS and i was going to veg. with the LED. So I then purchased a 4ft. 8 lamp T5 for my mothers and clones. My mothers (under a $300 dollar T5) are looking healthier than my veg. table with the 1400 dollar lumigrow LED. So i switched em up and im sorry but the T5 is the businuss. I did alot of reserch on these LED's, and in my opinion if your going with LED's get as many watts as you can per bulb.(at least 15w Ea.)

Yup gonna finish with the LEDS along with CFLs, as long as they get enough light I think they will be OK. I hope . Its just a weed no. FFOF soil and nutes w/Big Bud and Molasses.

yea thats pretty close to what I run with, and I'll say I have great results with flouros going into 2x1k in flowers. Sometimes though I'll hit my veggies with 400w mh as well just for the sheer speed of it. Flouros are really the shit for vegging, but sometimes they are slow in comparison to HID. I've also taken some girls that started just ridiculously well under flouro, but hit them with a 600hps for a week at 18/6 prior to flowering. This is when I finish any pruning or thinning, and I let them stretch just a bit. Just something I started doing on my own, but it seems to accomplish what I intend it to.
