Completely depends on what you're calling affordable. If your budget is $10, hang one CFL and leave the closet door open. Do some research on what kind of lighting you can afford and I'll help you design something around that.

Help yourself by reading the forums.

It is full of great info and should be done b4 you even think of starting a grow in your closet.

The fact that you ask this question rather then do a little searching and reading leads me to beleive you grow wont get very far at all. BUT GL!!:joint:

If you're low on money, definitely go for CFL lights. For the closet itself, you can cut out 2 holes for vents and just paint the closet walls with white paint for reflection. There, simple, and pretty cheap.

Wouldn't go cutting holes in the wall if you're a renter but that one guy was on to something (in his sarcastic way). The trick to growing on a budget is K.I.S.S.=keep it simple stupid. Get the bare mininum that you need to get going and add on to it as you can. For a start up closet grow you're going to need at a BARE MINIMUM pots, soil, nutes, a fan, lights (cfl or low wattage HID's 150/250w HPS/MH) a shallow pan, white paint or an emergency blanket and that's it. You can get all of that stuff at your local Home Loewsmart for under $100 and you should be good to go.
