Lights: 250W CFL

Temp Range:
75-90 F

Air:
Fan Ventilation

Phase:
Veg

Age Of Plants:
3 weeks

Medium :
Peat-Free Potting compost w/vermiculite 50/50 ratio

Watering :
Wick System

Soil PH: 7

Water PH: 6.2

Plant Species: Afghan

History
: Rigorous growth for the first 3 weeks, grown from seeds.

The biggest plant started to show signs of yellowing leaf tips and slighty drooping leaves as can be seen in the photograph.

I thought it had outgrown its pot, I have since repotted 2 days ago to a much larger pot, the plant appeared to have lots of roots at the base of the pot (maybe root bound)

The plants seem to reach a certain size and then start exhibiting the same symptoms , with yellowing stating at the bottom leaves and working their way up.

The soil seems to be moist upon touch.

The leaves havenot improved in the last 2 days since repotting and have slightly deteriorated. The yellow tips have given way to necrotic brown and are curling as if dead.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How often do you water? Is your soil dry before you water again? How about nutes? Heavy? Light? Every watering includes nutes?

It seems as if your roots could be suffocated due to overwatering. That would also explain the drooping. Keep in mindyou need 1gallon of grow medium for every foot of hieght she might grow during flowering. & avoid transplanting.

hi - I dont water at all i just keep a wick into a reservoir below the plants and let the water get sucked up into the soil.

I havent given them any nutrients yet.

This is my second grow.

I killed all of my sativa's by overwatering the first time, which is why i'm going for a hardy indica strain and using the wick system

I really need to know whats up with these plants or I fear I will be buying more seeds!!!!

OKAY i came to the conclusion that since these symptoms occured when the plants reached a certain size(i have plants of all different sizes and the large ones are affected most) I have decided to water the two largest ones.

I fear that in my haste not to over-water I may actually be under watering them by only using 1 wick on the larger plants.

I have watered the two largest plants and noted the states of each of the leaf nodes.

I will check back in 2 days and hopefuly this will have reinvigorated the leaf turgor.

I sincerely hope this is the case as I do not want to start adding nutrients to the soil.

If this is the case I will have to rethink my watering system and add more wicks for the larger plants.

The wick system has served me well so far and I do not want to abandon it and go back to the guesswork of top down watering.

Yellowing leaves starting at the bottom and working its way up sounds like classic nitrogen deficiency. Give it dilute nutes (1/4 to 1/2 strength) to start out and that should fix your problem. Best of luck my friend.

Thank you for the reply. I think you could be right.

I am going to use my own urine as a source of Nitrogen in a 1/20 mix.

I will add a cup of this to each plant and hopefully they will come back to life.

I will add this at the base of the stems, or I could piss in the reservoir where my plants are drawing their water from.

If anyone has any experience of what ratios to mix urine and water i would be happy to hear from them.

LOL. I don't know about using urine for fertilizer. I know it has urea in it which is a nitrogen source, however the concentration may not be consistent. Also urine is acidic so be careful with pH fluctuation.

I apologize I really want to help you but I'm awfully confused. So the grow medium for how many plants is always wet? Are all the plants in one pot?

HI - I have 7 plants and I use wick system to water them. ( all in different pots)

I am going to check them later on to see iof my home made nitrogen has improved matters :-)
