I know this thread is kinda old but i add to get my 2 cents in.
I live in N Texas. I have been around the states, canada, and mexico. I never heard popcorn in a terminology used outside of texas. Mainly can be found in N Texas as well as Houston.
I consider popcorn, a really good potent bud that is well worth the price you pay. To give you a idea a typical ounce of your current available regulat goes for 45-60. Please keep in mind only price good for N texas. ( I can vouch) Popcorn goes for 90-125 bucks. Dro your basic nothing really special kind goes for 200-350 oz, your high grade exotics can range from 350-550 for a oz.
With those prices kept in mind. Think of the thc % in all those various types, with reggie being the first. Now let me be the first or the millionth to say i have smoked some really good freakin reggie! Handsdown it is out there, of course its not on the regular unless your that lucky. With that being said if your coming across your basic commerce weed I be better of smoking popcorn, or corn for short for better quality and price. I really like exotic strains and I have had quite a bit too. However noticing the price difference between that and corn. I rather smoke on the corn for a budget person.
I personally have come across really good "popcorn" weed that smokes just like basic dro. I mean the stuff really goes a long way when I compare it to the regular weed I see. Now if I come across a good reg strain I will buy indeed, its just you dont see it that much and when you do.. you get thiese crazy katz who want to sell it as "popcorn"
THat brings me to another subject, when people like to pass certain strains or types of weed as another to make more money. SO many people are gullible and can get decieve buying good reggie as "popcorn" I really cant tell you the difference other then that when I get my "popcorn" it always looks like dro. I just dont come across reggie that smoke s , tastes , smells, and looks like that. Every once in a blue moon.. but that s about it.
I really dont know who came up with the word "popcorn" but it is crazy how different places classify there buds. In fl there real good on callin low mids and highs... NY has crazy prices for reggie anywhere 100 and ++ which is same price of our "popcorn" in texas. I realized moving to so many places ( as I was running from the blue smurfs that constantly move my garden gnomes on my lawn at night) Certains regions have better products and prices and availability. NY was my fav place as I had some really dank connections upthere and it seemed like it was on the regular.
TX , at least N Texas, just does not have the dro connect like other spots. Really have to be in a circle to get that kind of product, and when I say product i mean the quality not that crappy airy light buds early maturin bull shit grown from a person who has no clue how to grow. If only tx became legalize... I mean they really need to pass the law and become the next state....
