The U.S. and Afghan governments have begun secret three-way talks with the Taliban, Afghan President Hamid Karzai told The Wall Street Journal, disclosing an important breakthrough in efforts to end the 10-year war.


Mr. Karzai, whose government had protested being left out of recent talks between Washington and the insurgents, added he believes most Taliban are “definitively” interested in a peace settlement.


Mr. Karzai’s remarks suggest progress in tentative peace efforts as President Barack Obama begins withdrawing forces and prepares for the transfer of security responsibilities to Afghanistan by the end of 2014.

to wipe every single one of them off the map forever? (AKA genocide)

fighting a war with no chance of setting up a dialog with the other side is just plain stupid

Well the shit is going to hit the fan in Syria/Iran eventually. Apparently they admit that they have produced Uranium and used it in a reactor, scary...

Do we really think that the Afghan govt has no ties to the Taliban?

Get real people, that's like saying members of Congress have no ties to special interests! We paid in $$ and lives to help them establish rule over those who ruled before and they are just buying their time waiting for us to leave so it can go right back how it was before; only now some other tribe or what ever they call themselves is in power!
