Ok ... I'll never change my stance on alcoholism. It's not like the authorities are useless.. We're lucky to have them for things like this. Everyone takes that sht for granted.

Yeah Vette I know they can...I know from reading Gogrows posts that the last thing he needs right now is a shit load of bills to help with a lesson learned. Sometimes the actual event is enough to make you learn....All in the individual.
People can change if they want to..

Yeah ... I'm sorry if I came across with too much info... For the record though.. I'm not some angry little child that hates her daddy because he drank. My dad was always good to me. . . I never hated him for anything he did because I understood in a way...and forgive me I'm not in the best of moods either because I only got about 2 hours of sleep last night and I haven't smoked yet. That's what I'm gonna go do now.. Pick up some herb. . . and Oh man do I need it. lmao...

Blackout. Car totaled. Injured.

All red flags when drinking is the factor.

Gogrow, I'm sending you some rep because you need support right now and that is the best I can do. Last night was a cry for help. Getting behind the wheel in such a state is suicidal.

I've been there brother. I quit drinking because I could not control it. I stuggle with the urge to drink whenever things go bad for me. Trust me, alcohol will only make a bad situation worse.

You got lucky this time in that you only hurt yourself and did not wake up behind bars. Consider this your get out of jail free card.

A DUI on your record never goes away. Every background check will reveal it and you will have to explain it away and try to convince whoever authorized the check that it was a long time ago and will never happen again. When it comes to driving while intoxicated, there is no redemption. No forgiveness, even if no one gets hurt by your offense. It follows you the remainder of your days.

Please stop drinking. Do what you have to do. Go to a meeting. Get a therapist. Enter rehab. Whatever you decide to do to go about quitting; decide to quit.

I'm not going to lie to you and say it will be easy. It is not. But you are running out options. Make the right choice now while you still have one to make.

i never said drinking and driving was cool. all i said was a person does NOT need to be arrested to change. it's pretty silly to even think that. i am an example of someone who stopped drinking without being arrested. why can't gogrow do it? i did. i was on meth as well, but that's a whole other story. lol give the guy a break. when he comes back next week and he's done it again, then we can kick him. right in the head. :)

I guess I just see it from a different angle .. I was seeing it as, it's not worth taking the chance of him doing it again... The sooner he learns his lesson, the more he won't have to worry about getting screwed over in some other way associated with drinking.. and if the authorities get involved, he would definitely learn.. Maybe I was being a little dramatic. lol... I tend to do that. Somehow I don't think that he'd share it with us if something happens again. ha

I'm not surprised at the rancor I see in this thread. This is a serious issue.

Our society is very ambiguous when it comes to alcohol. If society were serious about eliminating drunk driving, parking lots at bars would be prohibited. Every patron who drives to a bar is rolling the dice and everybody knows this, yet bars have parking lots.

I would be curious to know from those of you hurling stones: do you drink? If you drink, there always exists a possiblity you will drive impaired or have done so in the past. It only takes one time.

I applaud gogrow for sharing this with us. He is reaching out for help. That takes a pair of balls. Your negative responses may push him away from the help he needs.
