Hi WOaS,
Back when I started growing, which was pre-internet...I bought every ganja book I could lay my hands on. Not too many back then though. These days, with everything available on the internet...it may not be necessary.

But let me waffle a bit. For a nowbie who is sincerely interested in learning his craft, then a good guide or reference book can be invaluable. Some of the advice people get in forums is conflicting if not totally bogus. It's nice to have accurate and useful info all in one place. So yes for a newbie and maybe for everybody else.

I used to have Ed Rosenthal's now I have Greg Green's 'Bible's'.
They both excel in some areas but sadly lack information in others.
Example - Green's book says virtually nothing about the acceptable EC/PPM levels for soil or hydro plants
at ANY stage of their lives.
Green's book also has lots of 'filler'
with pages devoted to 'How to Roll a Joint' and 'How to make a Pipe out of an apple'.
Pretty pointless stuff, for a growing guide.

biology of plants, [raven everet and eichhorn] might be a better "go to" than jorge's grow bible.

Before I dropped a bean I had read countless "bibles" and guides.. Fact is, some of the best farmers have never read a single one.

if you have a cannabis library it should be there it is a good book. if you don,t have a library then you don,t need one anyway. .

I have it. It's just another cross reference although the sections on room/area set up are nice.
If your going to have that one, I would add;
http://www.amazon.com/Marijuana-Growers-Handbook-Complete-Cultivation/dp/0932551467
It covers a bit more on subjects that Jorge doesn't as well.

Interested in ORGANICS? Try these two, in that order. 1st one is great for understanding it and the second is more how to do it.

http://www.amazon.com/Teaming-Microbes-Organic-Gardeners-Revised/dp/1604691131

http://www.amazon.com/True-Living-Organics-All-Natural-Marijuana/dp/1931160961/ref=pd_sim_b_5?ie=UTF8&refRID=0YW7FZ0548H600QCBGAV

Happy reading!

a good grow book is one of the best investments a newbie grower can get....
