nah man. centrifugal fan you can get a 4in one for like 50$ go to google look up either centrifugal or inline fan. thats a DUCT fan aka axial fan it just wont do. and niether will a squirrel cage fan. you can get em at the hydro shop at around that price too.

no although it has good cfm it only works with no restrictions same with a squirl cage fan, if you put a CF on it it drops to near 0 cfm , use a vortex or similar fan for CF's they are made to power thru restictions such as CF's

Squirrel cage won't run a carbon filter. Umm, that's all I have ever owned. My Dayton Squirrel cage works great with a carbon filter. Don't know where you guys got this info from. But to the OP, no just like the previous 2 said. They work great for like "intake" fans, and such. There is even an 8 in one that is 500cfm.

oh no i dont mean they cant i just found that it is in efficient and losees a lot of cfm making it better to get a fan that can create pressure. also when i ra my cage fan on a filter it got stupid hot. dont go insulting people for telling you whats better. i have experience on my side, on my first grow i used a cage fan with a filter and found that the inline was better later.(after i killed cage fan)
