WOS - Chronic Haze and SS - Power Africa ( Ebb & Flow )

Not sure on exact measurements but I flood the table and put my stones in the netpots until they are flush with the water level then I put a tiny half inch or so layer over that and thats the base where I set my RW on top of. Then I fill in around the sides of the RW just to keep whatever roots that come out on the side light free and to keep the RW in place.

Mine sprouted it seemed like with 2 tiny sets already with the cotyledons. Should I start adding nutes or wait till a week passes? They're real tiny leaves.

wait. They don't need any food at first. About this size is when I would start a mild feed. 1/8 strength what the bottle recommends.

Alright thanks man...I'm sure another day i'll have more issues and questions. Im hoping this attempt works.

Looking at that picture I cringe over how wet I left them. Thats kinda what I was asking about top watering, in that picture I top water and did it all, the RW and stones. I was asking if I should just water the area around the RW so the cube didnt get wet.

When your establishing them? probably, avoid getting rw soaked but also keep it damp that first week or two.

Yeah when I first set them in there that first week I top water, i've heard that it was a good idea to water around the RW. But i'm kinda getting a feel for how many milliliters i'm putting into the cubes to get them to that right dampness level. Right now i'm still using a digital scale and a pipette to get the right amounts.

Recently I heard from a user on here that h2o2 wasn't good on young plants. Have you had any experience with this? Or do you use chloramine?

I just use my tap water. I used h2o2 in the past but it does attack roots and wont kill all pathogens, so it's not worth adding imo.

So do you use beneficials periodically for pathogen control? Or nothing you just keep good res temps and aeration and tap water?

Just mycor for the roots mostly. Rez temps are anywhere from 70-77 with no problems. Root zone temps are 73ish at night 77 during the day.

Hmmm I was always under the impression you get 77 degree water you're going to have some kind of problems.

So I checked on my plants just now and the 2 tall ones drink so quickly. This is the 3rd time i've seen both of them drooped over. The shorter of the 2 stand back up, but the taller one is always slouched, it has a crimp in the stem it looks like from growing so tall so quickly and bending.

Definitely not heat causing the stretch my temps are still 73-80F, or light being too far away.

How bad is this for my plants? I know its not good, but I was just wondering how bad it was that they have been drooped over from lack of water a few times.

What material is good for a splint? Last time I used twisties straightened out. Would a toothpick work for such a small plant?

not sure would need some pics to give good advice. About the rez temps, those are fine for F&D because it only touches the roots periodically, then they cool esp using smart pots. Something like DWC I wouldn't want it to break 75 at absolute max.

I'll get some pictures in the morning. It sucks cause its not at my place and I cannot just walk downstairs and water or take pictures.

What's proper root zone temps? I hear a bunch of people ask if your root zone is too hot or cold and I have no idea. How do you even figure that out, stick a thermometer into your medium? Or would putting a thermometer on top of the RW cube be sufficient enough? I'd imagine mine must be the temp of water im putting into it and maybe a bit hotter from the room adding some heat to it.

I use a digital meter with a probe inside a central 'avg' pot. that way I get max and min, but yes a basic thermo stuck in the medium would work.

So like my hygrometer would work? That does min and max. The probe seems waterproof given the amount of times i've dropped it into water and it still works.

I see you're growing RP headband, is it really as good as people say for anxiety?

I do enjoy it...couple diff phenos but both are good. I found a good 50/50 blend that's very diesel-y so I'm going to keep that one around.

The 'tude got that back in stock recently and wanted to try it. Instead I got violator kush from barneys farm and I was going to get cataract kush by DNA but opted for WOS legends pure afghan kush as its 15% off now. Still expensive though, but supposedly a heavy yielder.

It'll probably be the next strain I get, and the cataract kush from DNA. That'll be an expensive purchase lol.

Hopefully my growing techniques improve. If this batch goes wrong im going to bag seeds to improve. Cant keep wasting money on seeds to be bad at growing. Very disappointed in my progress so far.

I had the Afgan Kush Special from WoS...very heavy yielder. A very floral taste, my only complaint was it was a bit too narcotic/sleepy for my liking. I'm more of a sativa guy, or hybrid at least. Just don't like being tired.

I like couchlock type highs.

Well here are the plants, I put splints in them today and one just looks real sad, its the one with the crimp. Theses guys shot up so fast they couldnt support themselves and im sure the fact I let them droop a few times didn't help.

The bad ones. The one bent over the most is the one with the crimp. can kind of see it in the first picture.

Have you thought about rapid rooter plugs? ph neutral. I started out with rockwool cubes and had issue after issue. Switched to rapid rooters sitting in hydroton and its been smooth sailing ever since. They don't hold as much water and are nice and small, work great for dwc probably just have to flood more often for ebb and flow

Another user recently suggested that to me...Maybe i'll give them a shot until i'm less of a newbie. These actually are bent from a result of underwatering and they formed a crimp. I threw the worst one out today, its leaves were crispy and was probably going to die anyways. Another fail.

Def go with the rapid rooters or root riot. Composted bark is a lot easier to keep the moisture right. They do dry out daily if not covered in a dome or sunk into medium tho, just a heads up. O and they are natural and have bennies in them too, idk I get 100% cloning rate with them, some clonex and a dome.
