Worried I topped/fimmed at wrong place on stem and or too early?

Hey everybody, first post and first grow here. So my plants are about 4 weeks old, but got a slow and stretchy start so I decided to try fimming them the other day. After watching every video available and looking at every diagram I decided to just pinch off the very top growth of each plant with my fingers. Of course I thought I knew what I was doing until I actually tried it and now I can’t stop thinking I messed it up. I don’t see 2 new growth tips growing from under where I pinched, so just wondering if I did it too early or in the wrong place? First picture is the “fimmed” one, second picture is “topped” one. The 2nd pic looks like I should have cut down to the node below where the nice growth tips are? It has 2 very tiny little tufts at the top but not sure if those are going to do anything. Everything I’ve read said it will probably be fine, but wondering if there’s anything I should do, thanks!

Looks okay to me, I’d recommend making the first one look like the second one, be sure to not cut the little tufts because those become your new tops and you’re golden

Looks like you may have been a bit early to top or fim.
Most times you read, they will recommend 4-6 nodes of growth before you chop the top.
This is to allow the plant to develop a better root system and be better suited for the stress of topping.
Hard to tell how big your plants are by your photos.
I don't think you did any real damage to either plant, they will both be fine, might just take a little bit to recover.
It may be a good experience to have one of both to see how they compare.
Good Luck with your Grow,

I think they will be ok, they look a little better now, but no new growth really. They are at 3 and 4 nodes I think, the nodes are just super close together. It's alright if they take a little longer to grow, I'm going to try to add 2 more plants that are sprouting now. These first 2 got kind of a suboptimal and late start.
