World Of Hempy

Yes you can start your seed or clone in soil, and you can transplant the soil core at any point into a hempy bucket. Go to post #95 on page 10 I've detailed the process there, you don't have to use the nutes I'm detailing.

Tell us what you are using for nutes in your soil now. In most cases the soil ferts will work in a hempy. I've not tried but have seen some problems with using pure organic ferts. But once you take your soil core and put it in a bucket, you will have to treat it as a hydro grow. ph close to 6, and in most cases it's good to have some cal-mag on hand.

I also recommend if using a soil core of that's bigger than a quart in perlite to top off the bucket with an 1 1/2" to 2" soil cap.
+rep for knowing page and post number and not repeating yourself :) funny thing is, I read that post already and didn't realize my answer was kinda right there. I use the foxfarm trio for soil nutes, btw

I deal with popcorn bud by not dealing with it. I pinch off all the lower growing shoots that would result in popcorn during the first week of flowering. I leave the fan leaves on for a while, until the canopy fills in and shades them.

Take a look at the plants in front, kind of a bad angle, but you'll see what I mean.

The result is big fat colas up where the sun shines, and the plant doesn't waste effort trying to fill out the popcorn. And I don't have to sit there slowly losing what's left of my mind trimming little bitty popcorn buds when I could be doing something productive...like drinking single malt Scotch, for example.

Yeah, it's a little work, but not nearly as much as all that trimming...
hey feroce,

when you pull the lower buds, do you keep having to do it? I tried that method on my first grow and the little popcorn buds kept coming back. I felt like I was fighting the plant and it didn't seem right.

Same neighbor that was giving you issues last year Moe? The reason I went with a stealth grow is because my neighbor wanted to call the landlord about any little thing. Well her drunk ass and her abusive husband are on evict notice after she smashed her car into the garage trying to get away from his stupid ass. I would never strike a woman, but this lady must enjoy it as she keeps this loser around even though I haven't seen him hold a job in over 2 years. Hope all goes well for you, maybe bake her some brownies? Just kidding man.

There is no question but that a message is being sent. This shit goes all the
way back to the dorms.

Neighbors can really suck. When I was attending college our neighbor below
would bring us to the door at all hours...because our screwing was keeping her up.
(I was around the corner....it was the girlfriends place...I wanted to ask her
if she expected me to stop or something ;0)

Good luck with that bro.

Same neighbor, same stinking attitude. and now she has some boyfriend so feels bolder....... she's a Lawyer and god knows what her walking suit does for a living, he looks like a professional twat. ... I'm defo from the other side of the tracks.

I'm not happy but I'll use the stress to become stronger, much like the branches of my plants when exposed to wind. ... so in other words, find a bigger place and grow more weed.

I am so freakin happy my nearest neighbor is 200 yards away..... but I'd much prefer to not have any neighbors within at least a mile.

Moe, my advice to everyone needing stealth...study your strains, look at the lineage, avoid skunk crosses and ask other growers about the smell of their strains..there is a good knowledge base out there...I'll bet 90% of public smell recognition comes from the "skunk" inherent in a lot of varieties. A fruity citrus smell...who cares? Anything with "Kush" in the name...beware. No matter how much carbon filtration you have, high humidity periods after a storm render them almost useless. The carbon gets saturated with H2O.....Using odors to mask the smell only adds more attention and your girls can take on that flavor. Low skunk odor strains are a truly a blessing for me...

Do you have a carbon filter in your setup?

Nope, not if you do it right...Give me a few hours and I'll take some pics of how I do it...the ladies are asleep right now.

Edit: Pics up!

Ok, Darth Budder, here's how I do it...a lot of folks are afraid of pruning plants, I'm not one of them. Properly done, it can improve yield and make harvest much easier. I tend to do my pruning a week or two after flip, after they start stretching.

I like to leave the lower fan leaves on as long as they remain healthy, so I remove the branch below the first node, like so...no more growing tips, so no more growth.

DSC_0001.jpg

I strip all the branches off the lower half of the plant, at the minimum.
DSC_0002.jpg

You can see that I left one too many set of branches on this plant...result popcorn.

DSC_0003.jpg

When you do it right, you end up with something like this...a big, easy to harvest cola

And this.

Props to you people bold enough to grow in your apartments, i've never had the balls or the ability to do it but i have thought about it quite a bit, god damn though you guys must be medical or something because i don't see how you would take the risk while knowing you have odor problems, i have a tiny house with a big yard in a small town and no odor problems at all and I'm still paranoid as fuck, i would much rather be out in the country with no one around for miles... This whole grow thing is really stressing me out and setting off symptoms of OCD, i cant leave my house with out checking my doors and windows to make sure there locked 100 times and any time I'm away from home i am obsessing about the series of events that will lead up to me getting busted, its like some final destination shit but with cops...

I am a legal medical patient so alleviates the fear of LeO. Just don't want to find a new place to live just yet so stealth was my only option. Had no problems with odor until this blue cheese I'm growing right now. Sheesh she is stinky as all hell.

psilo - I can identify with the stress and the OCD. ... If I get too stressed I lose a patch of hair on the top of my head, it's called 'Alopecia Nervosa' I also have a depressive condition which is aggravated by stress and can leave me with migraines for hours.

That said, its not going to stop me from what I have to do.

Cheers man, it's good advice.

Trouble is, I actually want the smelliest/dankest strains available. It's why I grow my own Ganja. ... I just have to deal with the associated issues.

with this GDP im growing there is no competition, no matter how much I have, it will go in a day or 2. ... with a low odor strain, everybody seems to be growing them (for obvious reasons) and they're a little harder to shift.

I have heard that about Blue Cheese. I am pushing it this grow, as I also
have the BC, but I have both Deadhead and Chem 4 OGs and PurpleBerry too.

My DIY carbon filter is huge. I have a second Can Fan that I can add to the tent.

Good luck,

JD

I am feeling your pain Java. The OG strains are all very strong smelling and unmistakable as anything other than growing cannabis. I just have a hydrofarm active air scrubber I picked up at the local hydro store. I swear this dude used this filter and just repackaged it, I sealed every possible leak with gorilla tape and it is still pushing out pure skunk funk. If I was able to I would vent outside but that would be way too noticeable. Last summer I had the landlord and the plumber 2 feet from my cab and none the wiser, I would have to move them for the day with this BC though.

GL to you too. Would you happen to have a journal about your DIY scrubber? I had thought about trying to disassemble my scrubber and refill it if possible.

I walked into my hydro-store the other day and the owner has two MASSIVE C.Filters waiting to be picked up by a customer.

These things were each nearly 6ft tall and with a 2ft diameter. .... I just thought to myself 'WOW, There are some really serious growers out there'.

When I move to my new place, I'll probably look at getting one of them.

The DIY tech that I used is here.

I am pretty good at hacking stuff together, but not a particular expert,
and this thing worked. The step that seemed least likely was the pulling
of the panty hose over the hardware cloth. It worked easier than I expect,
with me getting one small snag-hole. I added the second leg without issue.

Good luck,

JD
