IMG-20130303-00002.jpgHope everyone is enjoying their Sunday, got a question about Coco. I just made the switch and put a layer of perlite up to the drain hole and the rest is Coco up to the top. From all the info I have read I should ideally be watering daily but every other day is fine. Also feed/feed/water cycle still applies. Looking and feeling at the top layer of coco it still looks damp for 2 to 4 days after watering. Should I be watering daily anyway and will it probably dry faster once the clone has better roots? Should I leave the bottom layer just perlite and the rest a mixture of perlite and coco rather than pure coco? And last question, should i be using the tiniest bit of cal/mag each feeding or wait until I see signs of deficiencies to apply it? I am using advanced nutrients sensi grow a and b and each time i feed i use about 6 ml of a and 6ml of b , a few drops of nirvana, and sprinkle some soluble powder seaweed in the water as well. On a side note for those who are seed shopping my last couple of rounds have been sensi seeds northern lights, which were costly, yielding decent smoke, decent yields, and decent bag appeal. The freebies were femmed g13 labs og13 (their version of og kush) and paradise seeds femmed delahaze. I am phasing out the nl to keep growing og13 and delahaze as their yield, smoke, and bag appeal are top notch.

HI Casper!!

I switched to coco recently as well, and here is what I am doing::

I also use perlite in the res just past the drain hole, then 100% Coco on top of that to fill the bucket.

I feed with EVERY WATERING.. Keep in mind that this is basically Hydro. I also found the Coco looked REALLY Wet, so I was afraid I might over water, but apparently that is the beautiful thing about Coco, you can either let it dry out, or water often.. I am a water every day, to every other day grower, and they love it.

I am not using the GH Line for Coco, but rather the CNS17, and have not needed any CalMag yet,, So that's a bonus for me.. I was kinda getting used to the regular Calmag Deficiency,, But have not seen it in quite some time now.

Hope this helps a little, and I am sure others will chime in :-o

Nice guys sounds good. I keep wanting to switch up the nutrient line and try other stuff but are you finding you have to keep an eye on ph? I have been spoiled with advanced nutrient ph perfect and only ph down when I am flushing with r/o water.

I'm using cns17 line from botanicare. Only done one plant to harvest with it' but was very happy. All my hempys in my current scrog are getting it. I started using botanicare in soil over a decade ago and always happy with it. Also used fox farms lines and they were acceptable too.

Guys with 600 watt lights growing in 3 gal buckets...how many plants are you putting under each light during flowering?

Also has anybody grown out blueberry headband? seen it as a promo on attitude...Sounds like something I would want to try in the near future

I have 4 plants under my 600, only cause I grow bushes and they are in a 4x4 space which is about max you want, space wise. Given the oppertunity I'd grow in 10 gallon pots and still have 4.

Rusty I feed every watering as well. Do you ever flush? If so how often? Whether its good or bad I don't flush regularly. I've flushed a few times but only cuz I thought I was supposed to. What are your experiences/practices?

Ok I have 4 under mines as well. I was reading around online and some guys say they have 8-12 under theirs and I just couldnt see how that would work esp. Big size plants lol...I use to have like 9 under 1 600 watt but that was before I upped my dose of oc+. Now I dont think I can put anymore then 4 underneath the light.

ok Supchaka, atm I think i'll go with cns17; my advanced nutrients are well over a year old and were kept outside (LA weather) but maybe the quality is compromised, idk. So if i buy the cns17 grow and bloom for coco is there a line up you recommend for their additives? (i have nirvana, big bud, overdrive, great white, humic acid, and cal/mag.. ) I checked botanicare's website and like their nutrient calculator, but i've been forever confused with application amounts. If I use lets say 1/4 to 1/2 of the recommended amount of ml per gallon per week, but i'm mixing the nutrients and feeding everyday in hempy, is that too much?

Im thinking about adding 2 small ones in this size bucket along with the 4 I have under the 600. I really dont have time to chop the 1gallon water bottles I have and tape them all up so im hoping these will work lol.

Also if anyone else wants these type of buckets/baskets, they have similar styles at dollar tree for 1.00

This bucket looks nice too but doesnt say how big it is either. They sell this one at party city for 0.99
As long as they will hold water they will work, if I could get the yield I wanted from a 16 oz party cup I'd grow in that. My first hempy was and experiment with a 2L bottle straight perlite that yielded almost 2 oz., depending on what you want to grow and for how long you intend to veg either bucket would be great to grow in.

wow and what strain was that? If I could get 2 oz in that size bucket I would use those buckets exclusively and I could fit more under the light. I was thinking 1oz tops from that size of a bucket.

I must say Moe, I'm inclined to go along with you on raising the height of the drain to increase the res, but at what point will it get that it becomes deminishing returns. Or will it be that with a deep res will you need to add air to keep the res from going stagnet. My current grow in 2 and 3 gal buckets the drain is set at 2 1/2 inches, I get 2 days between water/feedings. I'm thinking if I can take it to 4 inches it would give me an extra day or two which would mean 3 to 4 days between water/feed.

It was a clone from some mexican bag seed, I also vegged it 5 weeks before flipping to flower.
