Working up to my first grow - would like advice

Okay, I am working on putting together my first grow attempt. I just finished my hydo tub tonight and need to get some lights and seeds and some nuets.

I am not sure what I want to do for my lighting yet. As far as seeds go I would rather not try bag seeds, the way I see it you cant cook a good meal with crap food, how can you grow good weed without good seeds/clones. Nutes is my next thing, I want to use the Lucas Formula, it seems "simple" enough. I just dont know what brand I should go with.

If you guys could help me out I would greatly appreciate it, especially on the selection of nutes.

In response to your seed theorey. You cant cook a good meal if the chiefs out the kitchen. Not saying your gunna be bad but thats why i recommend people to start with badseed so when they fuck up its not money down the tubs. If your really a great cook you can cook a pretty good meal with shitty food. Look at taco bell.

But for real if your really ready to go at it and you feel confident then fuck the bag seed. Or maybe just germ a couple bag seed plants 2 or 3 two weeks or one week before the others and treat them like shit. Dealing with problems is an important part as a grower. You dont wanna be like shit!!! and have to post a 911 thread asking for help. But i say deffinatly step up to the plate and get some good seeds.

Where you asking about lights? Whats your price range, i say cfls are fine and fit the bill. It all depends how hardcore you wanna go. Of course if you want the dankest you have to go with a hps.

As for nutes, well personally im not really into nutes. Ive always grown fine without them so ive never had an urge to use them. All natural
But on the real shit ill look into for you.

Only thing i say to keep in mind if you dont know of it already is keep up on your reading. In the top right the grow F.A.G. has a ton of information that makes life easy.

I say start with good seeds. Not the most expensive but good ones and make them feminized while you're at it. I think you should plan for success but have a philosophy of learning from mistakes. As for nutes don't go without them since you are using hydro. I'm using AN base nutes now (micro grow and bloom) but am planning to switch to Humboldt Master A & B 2 part next time.

Hydro? Did i miss something?

I guess I was not trying to ask about lights, I will prolly just start with some CFL's unless I can get a killer deal on an HPS system.

As far as seeds, I like smiles point, maybe I will try a couple of bag seeds and some middle line seeds in case the first attempt go bad.

Learning by experience always seems like a good way to get better.

As far as Nutes, I think I have to use some especially going hydo I am just not sure what ones I should pick up. As in what brands to you guys like?

Okay, So I got my 400w HPS system coming next week. I have a couple bag seeds I managed to snatch from a friend of mine. I also ordered some seeds of the net, so I have some seeds to practice with.

To recap I have a homemade DWC, I will be in my closet with my 400w light. I have rock wool, mylar, and hydration rocks.

I have been reading and reading trying to learn about nutes but I have no idea what ones to pick up.
