Wood in the grow room

So I wanna build a frame to set my pots in and have a runoff going underneath. I’d like to do it out of wood but obviously the mold issue. My question is if I wrap the wood frame in ducting tape or even Mylar can I get away with using wood in the grow room or is it still going to be a problem?

Personally after all the mildew issues ive had inside, i wont even use bamboo sticks to support plants anymore.

Id consider using PVC or Trex decking. Trex decking is expensive but will outlast you.

I wouldn't wrap them in anything the water will get under it at some point probably and cause more of an issue. If you're not growing driectly in the wood then you could just use a couple coats of Thompsons water seal on the wood and let it dry then build with it. It also contains a biocide. Should work, it says its harmless to humans, animals and plants.

Of you could use plastic deck boards.

“Kills” brand paint and primer is Anti microbial. then water sealer paint on top or second layer of kills in a pinch.

I’ve used a piece of 4” pvc pipe cut in half to make a trough, and a piece of rain gutter might be a good cheap option.

I built a wooden drainage tray from plywood and gave it a few coats of a decent outdoor gloss white pain. Ran it for about 4 years and it never caused any issues.

I just use these instead of doing DIY. You could always use treated lumbar and coat it in deck stain.

Kilz. And yeah , just paint it. Kilz isnt necessary but I'd use a quality paint , either a Sherwin Williams product or Ben Moore. I've been using alot of Ben Moore ' Command' commercially lately and i really like it. It can be used inside or out. Don't use exterior paint indoors, sounds good, but not a good idea. So an exterior/interior is your next best bet. 1 coat of primer, 2 coats of finish. There are packets of antimicrobial additives at most paint stores. They're meant to be shook in 1 gallon paint cans. With these, any paint can be "antimicrobial " I wouldn't worry about that personally, but I would use the highest sheen (Gloss) for my finish coats as it's the easiest to keep clean, and the higher the sheen, the harder the paint is.
Not sure why everyone is concerned with mold if it's painted, bathrooms vented/painted correctly dont mold.
