Wonders Medical Grow: Round 2

the Vertical mounting of the reflector (bulb remains horizontal) I think would be great... I could have some kick ass side lighting on all 4 sides and the 1000w in the middle?
Oh hell yeah... Turn those bad boys sideways... keep the bulbs horizontal.

That would be the shit!!!

One on each side... the 1k hanging in the mddle. You would actually have 3 vert grows in one. I still don't think you need any flouros in there.

And aint nothing complicated... it's all the same as any other grow, just turn the lights 90 degrees and let the plants get taller.

If vert is calling... pick up the phone. You've seen a million flat grows... pioneer something. Hell, we all might one day be growing with a big HPS in the middle of some plants with a couple MH's on the sides in hoods mounted vertically.... who knows?

You are really keeping me motivated. I have done a lot of reading on vertical, and it doesn't look as complicated..... In my mind it makes sense to use the bare bulb vertically, than horizontal in the reflector..... It won't be the end of the world if I don't get a single bud. Very doubtful. I think I am going to get a little bit hands on when the time is right and try a few different setups.

You could try both ways side by side if you wanted, you have the extra 400's that could do a flat garden and the 1k could do your tall stuff. Up to you.

I hear you about the MH on the top not being the best way, and the Vertical mounting of the reflector (bulb remains horizontal) I think would be great... I could have some kick ass side lighting on all 4 sides and the 1000w in the middle? Nothing on top, but judging by the way that picture looks the light is supposed to be up there pretty tall. My flo plants are having a hard time keeping a level canopy.
Kick ass is a perfect way to describe that. 400w sidelights on four sides and the 1k in the middle would really seriously crank out the bud. Are you actually prepared to have over 2.5lbs of weed though? It's kind of a scary amount and well over felony levels in many places.

For real... I was just sitting here thinking... the only way to mess up... is accidentally harvest 3 pounds or something... not the worst problem, but I feel overwhelmed with my harvests and I'm legal with 650 watts.

You don't have to answer, but what the hell you gonna do with all that? :o

Oh... and buy some dark ass sunglasses for that box youre making.. don't want to go blind caring for the girls.

I vote vertical. No matter when you do it, experimentation will be required regardless. The way you are dedicated to try vertical, if u get convinced other wise, during the entire grow you will be wondering how it would have been if it was vertical. I recommend just start now and get better at it, plus it will make one hell of a journal with all the experienced folks you will be good to go.

Terrific setup man. I plan on doing vertical one day, but I cannot grow that many plants legally for my medicine.
I'm scratching my head here... I have seen your grow and it looks like you are doing more plants than I am. I am medical and have a limit of six plants per patient. I do six plants vertical in ea room.

Still people aren't seeing what we are talking about.

Here's another example, this guys's vertical grow is still running and he has better pictures than I did so you can see what we are talking about:

Good arguments on both sides, but I think you need to go with what strikes your fancy. Go vertical if that's what you want to do. I'm sure you'll get plenty of bud. Budleydoright's grow is the shit. He has put a lot of thought into his set up.

I am glad there has been lots of input here. I do feel everybody is missing the type of vertical grow we are trying to do here. No shelves, nothing. Thanks for all the input. WIll be back later........
Any overages will go directly to the dispensary as to not violate my state law. I can only have a matter of ounces right now. I guess I can always give some to my fellow patients for safe keeping......

I have 6 plants too.

That is very similar to the setup I would like to try eventually when I have space. I was talking about the vertical setup with shelves that had too many plants as that would be completely out of range for us.

The best numbers I have seen are 2.5 # per 1K watt or 2.5 # per plant. 6 OGs grown up to 7 ft. Vertical setup 6000K watts with CO2 at 1500 ppm and a split unit A/C. The guys tried all kinds of nutes said it made no difference now he just use GH or H&G.

Bamboo sticks. I will be needing these....... and they could help now. I like your thinking........
#1, subscribed.

#2, I have ~300 3' high bamboo sticks that are yours if you feel like stopping by and grabbing them (couldn't use them in my E&F setup).

On some other sites you'll find indoor plants with 4lbs, people are still trying for 5. That's if you throw 4k or more at one plant and it needs a lot of root space.

I think I could do better than 2.5 I was held back by root space, had no co2, had no reflective walls, just used house a/c as well and could have trained or scrogged. Might not be able to pull much more but there has to be room for improvement the way I did it.

I guess I never got what the big deal was with vertical gardening, and I have checked out many different threads about them (in full disclosure, actually seriously thought about buying a Coliseum at one point).

Anyways, long story short, if he's running 1K with 4 400Hs, I don't think that 2.5#s is much at all from that, truthfully - for my run after next, I'll be running 2 1Ks and looking to pull from 3.5+ lbs. - are you sure those numbers are correct?

I remember reading a thread on cannabis culture, I believe, where some dude pulled 10#s off 5 600s in a Coli, so those numbers don't really sound right.

Anyways, long story short, my $.02 - if you're content with 2.5#s and can run 2500 watts, there's simpler ways to do it then vertical.

4k on one plant? wouldn't it be more managable to put more plants under the same 4k indoors and acheive the same or better yeild. I have seen 2 lbs on a huge indoor plant( like 7 foot), but never 4 lbs. I would love to see a pic of this one. What site is it?

It's a nightmare to try to get that weight on an indoor plant, forget manageable. People that do that have a -legal medical plant count limit-, a lot of free time on their hands, and a desire to just set records no matter what. I'm sure money has something to do with it as well...

Let me see if I can find a couple examples that are open to the public. A lot of sites now don't allow you to see much or view any images until you join, it's a shame.
