I really think that Jimi Hendrix maybe was the greatest guitarist in the world. Or at least, he was the greatest guitarist in the 1960's and the beginning of 1970's.
A female guitarist who has listen to JH a lot is Orianthi. She is from Australia and rehearsed in 2009 with Michael Jackson in preparation for his This Is It concert series.

Jimi, was the Most Original, Electric Guitar Player, to ever walk on stage. IMO, of course. Ive been listening to him, since he first came out, in 1967.
There was Electric Guitar Before Jimi, and Electric guitar, After Jimi. It has never been the same since.
He also revolutionized guitar effects. Studio tricks, that later on, became standard practice.
