snip off all the wires except the red and black ( prett positive those are the colors) most pc fans run on a 12v DC supply...if you look around your house at old cell phone chargers, power wheels chargers etc...you need to find something that has one of those little boxes on the plug itself or on the cord... on the "box" which is a little transformer that brings the voltage down to what it needs...look on the ones that you find. on it somewhere it will say "output voltage" and find one thats closest to what your fans are rated at.....cut the plug off of what yoru gonna use, strip back the wires from the plug and from the fan and just connect 1 wire from the fan to 1 wire from the plug, and then the other wire from the fan and the other wire from the plug. and your in business pal...good luck...old cell phone chargers are like 4 or 5 volts and will work on the fans but they obviously wont spin as fast as it would with a 12v dc power supply...

EDIT: by the way, you can connect multiple fans to one power source...dont be worried if you need 4 or 5 fans, it will work no problem dude

lmfao, dude are you serious....everyone has to start somewhere and being a licensed electrician for 6 years now, i honestly cant think of anything more fucking simple then wiring up some 12v fans...i worked on live phone lines at 40v on friday for almost an hour. and if he wants to be even more carefull....when you test it, use an outlet thats on a switch, that way you can flip the switch to make sure your not gonna "shock the fuck out of you"

those "block plugs" or resistors are the safest thing to wire ever!

you can stick both ends in your mouth and feel a little tingle :P

you cant burn your house if you are playing with phone chargers unless you have filled your room with propane gas :D The worst thing that can happen is to burn down your charger (don't take it literally). up to 12V there won't be massive sparkles or something like that. I found adapter that was from my old 2.1 computer speakers. it gives out 12V. I wired all my four PC fans and they are all blowing nice wind :)

I believe that quote is from Robert Heinlein. Einstein would encourage people to try new things. Einstein believed that everyone had a hidden potential. A perfect quote for a situation like this is, "Great spirits always encounter opposition from mediocre minds" - ALBERT EINSTEIN

I for one, support people trying new things and learning all that they can. I understand that it is a danger if he does it wrong, but the last thing one should do is totally oppose one's attempt. I have yet to hook up a fan for the box that I just built, but I came on here to find out something new. Now, I know how to do it. And I will do it successfully.
