Wiring Help! Old grow room/set up found in house.

Hey guys, I need some help wiring this old set up back to life.

First picture is of the electrical outlets in the room. They have no power to them. I found the blue cord in the attic and its currently not connected. I took a picture of where it must've been previously connected, I just dont wanna fuck with the wires before I know more. Hopefully you guys can tell me what to do from the pictures provided, I can easily take more at different angles if you need a better look.


Next you will see the blue wire running into the attic but not currently connected.

The outlet pictured in the next photo works and so does the vent/fan system they have built.



PLZ HELP!! How do I connect those wires and get the outlets working without zapping myself!!!

red to red, black to black white to white. turn off power at fusebox first

And have a fire extinguisher handy

Thanks guys, it wasn't too hard at all, everything is in working order now, I was just being a lil bitch at first lol.

any ideas on what the venting system is?
I plug it into the outlet in the attic and it just makes short buzzing sounds like every 30 seconds - 1 min, but no fan or exhaust kicks in

The last picture looks like an inline fan and filter connected to the box. That may be a baffle box used to control the noise from the fan. That looks like the exhaust though, not sure about the ventilation.

its a crude diy exhaust of some sort and probably seized up if its buzzing. try rotating by hand with power off.

Got some more updates..

So my whole idea is splitting this old closet that used to be one grow room, in half and keeping the back as my grow room, the front will be storage for the old lady.
The 3 outlets are powered by the blue cord which I reconnected last night.. Ive built a wall in the room and drilled a hole to pull cords.. I plan to move the 3 outlet boxes into the other side of the wall.

When I tore down the old ceiling in the first half of the closet I found more possible venting/exhaust systems, looks like one sucked air out and the other blew air in, I just got no clue, so Im gonna post some pictures..

This is the first system, no fan hooked up but its rigged for something and powered by what looks like computer cables, also has this little on/off switch.


With the camera up in there I was able to see this vent, which connects to this fan hood (no fan) and then goes somewhere into the attic. Possibly into the bottom of that box? I cant tell tho, I'll have to go back up and investigate later. Either way, no air flows into or out of the room from this vent currently, even when the box in the attic was plugged in (which only buzzed periodically..)

the first system with the computer cables is in the first half of the room, this other fan/vent is in the second half now that I have divided it..

would this one have blown air in, and the other, computer fan one possibly sucked the air out? any thoughts

That wiring setup t is a mess.. Spend 100 dollars on new Romex and wire nuts, etc and rerun it.
I had a rigged setup in my garage and had to rewire it before I could weld. Not too hard.
Probably safe, but its almost impossible to see every inch of wiring. Rodents love to chew wiring and its a major cause of fire in older houses.

I would throw all that crap away. You don't know how well somebody else's work was.

Man I totally concur with these other dudes. Throw the old equipment away unless you know fo sho how to determine if it's still safe to use. New wiring, hell yeah rats love to chew through wires. You need to follow that blue romex back to the panel and see how it's wired in and what the amperage is. Then run new outlets or whatever. Peeps sometimes don't realize that wiring codes are there for their own safety. It's not hard to figure out the easy stuff but, could create a tragic situation if you overload or have faulty wiring or equipment. Safety first to protect you, your family and your home. Ive got an electrician buddy coming to take a look at it.. Until then, the blue romex runs from where its shown disconnected, straight down the attic to the 3 outlets shown in the other picture, which is in the closet. They are connected to the same breaker that my washer and dryer run on. That is currently the only thing I have connected and am using. (the blue cord and outlets). I can see the entire length of the Romex cord and there is no damage what-so-ever to it, The old cpu fan thing is dissconnected and so is the "crude diy exhaust" in the attic. Ive also loaded the attic with rat poisen and traps, but yes, I will have someone come in and replace any cords that need replacing for sure. Appreciate all the feedback so far, thanks guys!

Smartest thing you could do bro. Let your electrician friend look at it.

I'm assuming the guy who ran the wiring, did the drywall?

Looks pretty bad.

It doesn't take much money to do it the right way, as stated above.
