Have a bit more space for the SS x haze run now. Starting to see a fair bit of variation in phenotypes already and I'm starting to pick my favorites out. Thinking I'm going to top them in a few days and veg for while longer, and maybe top again before I flip and sex them, not in a big rush with this one, will just have to train carefully for the space depending on the final numbers I decide to keep. Then I'll pick my favorites and separate the males into one of the other tents that'll be free by then.

Topped and thinned out the SS x Haze younglings a bit. Fighting a minor thrip attack at the moment, buggers are everywhere outside these days. Some plants are showing a bit of weird growth so I'll try to deal with these pests and hope to see some normal growth again soon and we'll flip to 12/12 in a couple weeks.

Moved some things around today and reorganized a bit. Finally got all my tents lined up and setup a second bucket so I can run all the blumats I need. I've now got one bucket feeding a nute solution for the Electric Qoolaid which is in buffered coco and the other bucket is just plain water for the SS x Haze regs that are in my amended coco mix.

Haven't given the regs enough love lately. Looking a little down, so time for a top dress. So we went through the PeakSeedsBC SS x Haze batch and lollipopped everything. Roots are popping everywhere. Time for top dress with coco amended with Gia Green bloom, neem meal and EWC. Now we're about ready to flip in a week and begin the sorting and separating.

The Electric Qoolaid is nearing the home stretch. Around day 70 I think. Couple more weeks and we'll start thinking about getting ready for harvest. Turning out ok even through I'm struggling with RH in the high 60's at times. But shes looking good. Buds are getting nice and dense, good size and weight to them and really sticky trichomes. Has a skunky grapefruit smell right now.

Been away for a week on vacation, lots to catch up on. So we were gone for a whole week so had the challenge of leaving the whole setup unattended! o_O It sort of worked but not without some damage to the plants unfortunately. The reservoir ran short and few of the plants went without water for a couple days at least.

And after...
20210731_123930.jpg
Ouch...:wall:
But after a healthy watering they mostly back up with only some limited damage done.
20210801_103356.jpg
And after some rearranging, spreading out and bit of defoliation and topping of the dead stuff. We'll give them a maybe another week or so to recover and bounce back and then I think we'll flip to 12/12. 20210801_134506.jpg20210801_134520.jpg

In better news the Electric Qoolaid survived the week on it's reservoir and we chopped it today. Day 85. Turned out beautifully, one of my best results I think. Big heavy colas, strong piney citrus terps, purple tinged buds covered in trichomes. 20210801_113448.jpg20210801_111259.jpg2021_08_01_11_18_40_168.jpg20210801_113608.jpg20210801_111118.jpg20210801_113221.jpg20210801_111132.jpg2021_08_01_11_20_07_890.jpg2021_08_01_11_20_32_283.jpg20210801_111056.jpg

So I took a gamble a picked out a few plants of out run that I guessed were male and set aside and flipped early so I can collect some pollen without taking the risk of pollinating the whole run. and lo and behold! Got two out of the three. So here's a couple males that are now budding and throwing pollen sacks. We'll now call them M1 and M2 for breeding purposes.

Collected some pollen from the males. Didnt get a ton, maybe a little too early, will harvest again a couple more times to be safe. Just took the plants and tapped the branches over some parchment paper, carefully gathered and separated the pollen from the balls that fell off and sifted into a couple of plastic vials. Put a couple grains of rice in the vial and baggie, will leave open to dry out a bit for 24hrs before sealing close and store until I'm ready to flip the rest of the run, which I hope won't be too much longer.

Been trimming up the Electric Qoolaid. Going to give it another couple days in the paper bag before taking final weight and jarring. Looking good. :weed:

The Sweet Skunk x Haze regs are looking better now.

Also picked up some C99 clones from a buddy. We'll use one to cross with the SSxHaze and see what we get.

Clicked through here.. Nice stuff bro.

Looks like you've already done this.. But I'm bored so will force feed you my opinion.
If it were me I would not put rice. Rice can get moldy, if there is any moisture there ;

24 hours is fairly quick and the pollen may clump being sealed quickly. But wishing you luck.
Plants look niceand happy I'm subbt :blsmoke:

Thanks buddy! no worries I appreciate the input. Do you just let the pollen dry out very well before storing, or do you use something else for the moisture? Cheers!

I do both actually but it is dependent on my conditions. If it's a controlled space it's a bit different.
Sometimes will collect whole flowers sometimes will tap pollen, sometimes will collect just the sacks.

In the end the yellow is what is important and it's very hard to tell when it is dried up. So when we think about it, pollen alone can be viable for quite some time (without storage). So I will let it sit out in a 'cool' environment until I am positive it is dried. And then transition dry in the fridge for 1 day before placing it into the freezer.

So many different methods, not enough time. I use indicating dessicant balls. Don't let the word ' GEL' fool you they are legit. You can get them on Amazon for pretty cheap. They also work well going into the centrifuge tubes to keep the seed nice.

Been 8 days since the flip but I was inching the timer down before that so we're seeing sex pretty quickly. Got two more males to separate out. Ended up being plants 7 & 10. Leaving me with 6 females to flower. I'll let these flower as well and see how they look.

The 6 females looking better now with the extra space, still going to be tight in there to flower. Seeing a nice bit of variation in phenotypes, roughly half being slightly shorter, the other slightly taller, differences in stem thickness, leaf size and shape, node spacing and smell. Picked out a few of my early favorites, 5 and 8, so it'll be interesting to see how they turn out.

Also the C99 clones, just keeping them small and simple.
