easy now, this is my first ever grow so expect noobishness :)

got a florescent tube on the 2 plants that are about a month old and 2 more germinating.
going to order a 300w duel spectrum CFL & an extraction system soon, then the florescent will moved down the bottom in a small separate section of the closet and used for the new seedlings. using a coco & pebble special ready mix that my local hydro shop stock.

this is the CFL - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dual-300w-Hydroponics-Grow-Light/dp/B008A62N42/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1355242298&sr=8-2

got a lemon skunk and a 3rd gen O.G kush on the go at the moment and another 2 lemon skunk's germing as we speak.

heres some piccys

I love your drawings haha. In all honesty though using CFL's just keep a fan going. I've got a 400w HPS flowering in a 3x3 area and I only need a fan to keep it cool.

I've got a 400w MH & HPS setup but its too powerful for that space... temp shoots up to 35-40°C in there even with the fan on. obviously i've got no ventilation yet and could install in intake fan & outlet it into the attic but thats too much hassle cutting holes in the roof etc this time around. maybe i'll sort an intake & outlet to use the 400w MH & HPS setup next grow.

BUT, since CFLs are apparently cool running I thought i'd just go for a 300 watter with reflector, install a filter & fan blowing out through the door into a room of the house and that should still keep cool enough in the closet & give me something to toke in a few months time...

fist off, ventilation is not only for temperature control, but also to ventilate old air/Co2 out and replace it with fresh air/Co2 for then plant`s

secconly, that space is not to small for a 400W HPS, looks kind a perfect for 4 plants, get a cool tube or even better a cool hood (better foot print) and use the 4" on it, and get a normal Fan to blow at it, I run a 600W HPS with a 6" ventilation and a cool hood and I can keep temps about 5F over Ambi Temps (Temps out side my grow room witch is about 70F, spare bed room)

Only problem with that being when i had a the 400w, a standard Lumii reflector and a house fan on full (too much for the plants) in there it was still 35-40°C...

Without making holes in the closet ceiling and going into the attic (witch i don't want to do at the moment) for the air extraction and also fitting an intake fan its simply too hot in there.

Maybe i'll invest in a cool tube, cut some holes in the ceiling and buy a couple more fans then use the 400 watter next grow but for whats growing at the mo i cant afford to do that.
Only prob i can see with cooltubes is it possibly being a huge ball ache changing the bulb?

minds fairly made up on a 300w CFL for this grow though to be honest... to keep the heat down until i sort a proper solution. don't mind that much if i dont get a huge yield long as i've got something to toke by the end of it

Forgot to mention i'm going to use the 'string trick' as I call it... no idea if what the proper name of this method is.
But basically, after planting in the corners of you're pots you clip some pegs around the pot to tie string too, with some string or cotton or something tie down the main stem of the plant so its bent over then also tie the branches down encouraging the plants to grow short and bushy. (ideal for small grow areas)

300w CFL sorted, temp only shoots up an unnoticeable amount in there now with the house fan on with a small oil heater & still no ventilation. going to order a carbon filter, new fan & some ducting today though so if i feel like flowering with the 400w HPS i will be able to do so without it shooting up to 35-40°C anymore.
