Will this work? hid light question

hello im currently lokking at how to put a low watt hps in my grow room and im trying to do it with spending the least amount of money.
i found this, but i dont know if it will work or if i need a ballast for it or even what max wattage i could put in it

i dont want any hood or anything just a socket that i can plug a hid bulb into and have it work.

sorry if this is confusing i dont really know too much about lights.

is this is not possible im lookind at getting a flood light and using it for the grow.


any ideas or suggestions?

1: You need a ballast in order to run HID lighting. What you linked there is ONLY the cord and fixture, it does not include the ballast.

2: If you are going to use "flood lights" make sure they are CFL [compact fluorescent lights] flood lights. "Normal" incandescent, halogen lights do NOT work when growing.

3: If money is an issue, go for CFL's for a small grow. If its a bigger grow HID lighting is the only option really.

Socket assembly and lamp cord comes standard with all complete Plant Grow Light Systems. Only order as a replacement part or if you are building your own system by ordering the ballast, reflector and lamp separately.

this would plug in to the ballast then the ballast would plug into the wall

just use cfls they work gr8
