Will this work for a carboy?

I'm looking to start brewing my own beer soon with nugs as one of the main ingredients added with the hops. I prefer cash transactions. That and I can piss from my apartment and hit home depot pretty much so it would be nice to just get everything I need in town.

Ah OK.. just seems that if you bought it from a specialty store you'd know you'd be getting the correct part and know it'd work is all..

yeah you might want to look at a brewing store or ebay/amazon.

you can get about 10 for the price of that one and they work perfectly.

i brewed up some stuff a few months ago for shinin and i found a glass 5 gallon carboy and started it up.

except i used turbo yeast. im curious how the buds will mix in with the flavor of the hops.

I plan to make green dragon out of the shine i make. hahaha

You are looking for a air-lock not a carboy. The carboy is for second fermentation usually. If you plan to bottle beer I would suggest fermenting in a plastic fermenting bucket, and transferring to beer bottles to finish and carbonate in. Carboys are hard to clean from a fermentation that's why it is used for second instead of first and beer doesn't need second ferm. Find a home brewing store locally,you can find whole kits for 45 bucks with everything you need. They have the yeasts you need also. GL bongsmilie

If I read that right you're fermenting the bud to distill? You don't want to do that, it makes the wrong type of alcohol. You'd be better off soaking the bud in the shine or hanging it in your column.

Home Depot doesn't sell the malt, hops and yeast you will need. Just get the airlock from the homebrewing supply store when you pick up your ingredients.

I brewed for about 10 years. Cleanliness is key. Join a local home brewing club, learn from the experienced members, watch them brew a batch or two. Don't just wing it. And I'm not sure how well putting "nugs" into your beer will work out for you. Sounds like a waste of perfectly good weed to me. I like IPA's too. Good luck.

no the OP is the one brewing with hops and buds. I have already brewed my mash and am waiting to distill it.

Then i will put the ground up buds in a tea strainer/bag and let it soak in the distilled alcohol for a few days in the freezer.

Hopin to get around 160-180 proof. And out of the 2 gallons of mash i have hopefully get a few good pints of strong green dragon.

I just ran a couple batches at 155 proof. That's about as high as I can get it with a pot still on a single run. Haven't infused any bud, I'd rather smoke it. bongsmilie

and have you ever tried green dragon?? one shot and you are out of it to say the least. faster hitting than any treat.

first time i tried it i fell asleep with my eyes open... hahaha

Do you get an alcohol buzz from green dragon or is it all cannabis ? Or do you only drink so little you don't really get drunk from it?
Been interested in trying gd but I'm not much of a drinker to say the least..

Im the least drinker i know. I havent gotten "drunk" in years.

You need so little of it. First time i made it i only had 90 proof and it still grabbed enough thc to knock my socks off.

And i had slightly less than a shot. If youve got trim its perfect for it but if you want guaranteed effectiveness then use some bud.

Depends on how strong you make it and how strong your alcohol is but you really shouldnt need more than a shot.

Ill make some shortly and give you a weight to alcohol ratio because i never really measure. haha.

I was making sour mash. I haven't advanced into infusing yet, just some aging in oak casks. I need to find some white corn, the yellow I have been using has a pretty strong flavor and I've had to resort to adding Malt-O-Meal to my mash to mellow it out.

Haven't tried any Green Dragon.

I've tried green drangon with many different vodkas and clear rums, including 151. And it allways comes out amazing a nice body high after one shot and after 3 shots your uncomfortably high (if you make it right). Me though I just want a special IPA of my own with just the flavor of the bud. And I figured hops and cannabis are fairly close genetically so I was hopping the bud would add a unique sweetness to the brew and I'm sure it will. Just gutta get all my shite together 1st.

Yes it would work better than anything I just mentioned. The higher the proof the higher capacity to hold cannabinoids.
