Did you soak the Rockwool cubes in pH5 water for a day before you put seeds into them? If not, that's prolly your prob....well things arent lookin good around here, i dont understand whats going on here.....I've always germinated seeds in peat pellets obviously cuz i am use to growing in soil. well i've got this rockwool shit now and straight water, i soaked the seeds for like a day and a half. All but two seeds that i dropped in the rockwool were already split. i pushed them in roottail down about to the middle of the cubes, dropped them into the system and turned the lights on for more heat and so that as soon as they popped up the light would be there. well now its been 48hrs since then and nothing is coming up. i looked in all the little holes in the rockwool and i can see the seeds but for the most part i see very little to no progress....I didnt even want to address this as its is so embarassing, but I always have sprouts by now!!!!! what could possibly be going wrong? is it the light shining down the holes of the rockwool bad?... i never remember reading anywhere that your suppose to squeeze the holes shut.....?
You should read the Bubbleponics threads. They will get you going in the right direction. You NEED to keep the Rockwool cubes wet at all times, until the roots hit the water. Your water pump should be pumping out a small trickle/fast drip to the net cups, at the verticle center , right?fuck it, i shut down both pumps, you're right they are too wet, once i get some sprouts i'll fire the pumps back up.
Right. After the roots hit the water, you pull out the feeding tube/dripper and the cube drys out. You never have to be concerned with it again. If the roots are in the water why would you want to keep the cube wet?
My rockwool stays dry as a bone with my DWC your saying that adding a dripper would make the growth better?
I don't see how keep the main stem wet will lead to more growth
Right, but he's just turning off the pumps for a little while to let them dry out some, not completely. You should read the Bubbleponics threads. They will get you going in the right direction. hey thanks man, yea you are, I'll be watchin for sure, i see yours are all split they are close. I have a few back ups goin if i need them, I am running them in just soaked rock wool sitting on a bed of hydroton in a tupperware with plastic wrap and a vent. seeing if they sprout any faster I just dropped the seeds in this morning at about 9 am. so if this method works faster, I'm definatly sprouting out of the system next time and then just dropping em in after they sprout.Lookin good Volcom. Glad to see you gettin some sprouts. I'm right behind ya buddy.
Looks good man, you should leave one cup without a dripper to see if there is a difference. I know that the cup without the dripper would have the roots in the water first. You still on for comparing pics of my DWC vs. your bubbleponic at two weeks?I have a total of 6 out of 16 up right now but it looks like a few more will be up by sometime tomorrow. the 2 in the first pic are pretty much exactly the same size and of the same strain so i took one feeder tube out and will check to see if there is a difference in growth rate.
**for those of you (if any) who stemmed here off my outdoor journal, i've noticed that all the stems of my Armageddon cross sprouts are deep purple, which was not the case on the original strain (i'm excited!) I was doing some thinking last night tho and decided that the geddons may not do so well in a sea of green set up as they like to get very bushy. I just think of those giant green globes I had and think i might have a bunch of little green globes! lol i'm not working with much space so yea hopefully this new cross picked up a genetic from the male plant (not as bushy) as for the white widow crosses I think they will do amazing in this setup not to mention the bud structure of this plant is perfect for this sea of green.
