Will this bran (yes BRAN) cause problems??

I bought some predatory mites to tackle a Thirp infestation. The mites are kept in bran. I sprinkled the bran on the buds. Now I’m worried that when the bran gets wet, it’ll cause problems to the buds such as mold. What do you think? Get an air duster to blow the bran off the buds? They are stuck to the resin glands. Ughhh

Ok found this:
“The main disadvantage is that when it gets wet, bran tends to stick to the leaves of the plants and cause mold spots. It is therefore not recommended for ornamental plants.”

Should have just did this but I wanted total mite coverage

Just give it a little shake to knock some of that bran off. It’ll be fine.
I’m trying to, but my buds are so damn sticky!
It’s supposed to rain all day tomorrow too. Am I being overly paranoid? My first grow and I’m not familiar with how they react to shit like this. All I know is I read lots of bud rot threads and it scares the shit out of me!!!

Do your best to get the bran off. I'd be a little concerned too, but at least you're aware of a potential problem.

Next time use an envelope or a hanging pouch. I'd try to blow it off the best you can.

I bought these boxes last time too. So depending on the plant I'll use an envelope or a box.

That’s what I’ll do next time, thanks. I used some compressed air and my hands to sweep the bran off the best I could. Not sure if there’s a proper way using a box other than just putting the bran/mites in there and that’s that.

How effective did you find these little guys? I also got some soil mites for larvae stage etc. also put on some blue sticky tape.

The mites you got work decent for thrips. I'd use a knockdown spray first, then apply the predators.

I saw the envelope trick on one of the Good Guy cards. You put the bran/mites in an envelope or the boxes and hang the boxes if the branches are big enough. And use the envelopes with it folded and placed in the middle of the plant.

You don't have to use both. If they're big plants the boxes are cool. If they're tiny the envelopes work better. The boxes are like $.10 a piece when you order from Good Guys. And go straight through the source at Good Guys. Don't go through Amazon first. It's way faster directly from the source.

thx

Hosed them down the other day, applied mites today (including bran on the buds :dunce:), we’ll see what happens. Feels better than dousing with pesticides (even if they’re the ‘approved’ kind of pesticide).
