Will they pump out what they're supposed to in a powerstrip?

I'm in an apartment. I plan on using 4 150w equivalent cfls. If I plug them all into a powerstrip then just put that in the wall outlet, will the lights still receive enough power to put out their intended light? I know nothing about electricity. THANKS!

So technically that's 4 x 46w bulbs?

I believe you're supposed to go by the actual wattage for what is says instead of the incandescent equal value.

But yes, if you're using the home depot socket to electrical adapter, each will put out 46w.

You are using basically no power there, less than 200 watts so you should have no issues. However if you were to lay into a powerstrip or surge protector, with say 12 -15 amps (like 1300 + watts) then there is a possibility that you will trip the strip. It will either work or not, no lower light output, just light or no light.

Yeah you will be totally fine... I have (2) 400w HPS Lamps, (3) fans, (1) pump all on the same strip, and a stereo that are all hooked up to the same outlet. Each of my lights use up about 3.25 AMPs and I am able to put up to 15 amps on that circuit.

In short, your 4 CFLs will probably only use about 5 - 10% load on that circuit. Don't worry too much :)

Just think if you have an AV setup with a 60" TV, Full Surround, Video Game Systems, and all the bells and whistles... and compare how much more electricity that uses.

Agreed. And that's one helluva bush in your avatar :) :)

Yeah that was a decent run in the ghetto SWC system, which is fighting me to no end right now. Working on getting details figured out before the complete rebuild in the middle of next month!!! Watch for updates, plan on doing an entire diy/journal on building swc system that will take less space, less nutes, less work with more yield.
