i went to canadian tire yesterday and bought myself 2 fluorescent lights 32" in length 30W 2200lumens and its cool white. will these be sufficient enough for the veggie stage? also how many plants should i be puttin under the light (2 bulbs side by side). also aprox how much square foot does a 400W hps cover?
will these lights work?

those fluorescents will be fine, you could veg 4 nice bushies under them. the 400 hps will cover 16 sq ft

You want about 50W per SQ FT. So 400W does 8 sq ft. 16 is too low of intensity.

that's true. idk why i doubled it.
60w of cfls is not that much light, but it should be enough if you have no other alternative. Also, you should know that cool white is okay but not the BEST spectrum for vegging.

'Warm white' or 'Soft white' ≤ 3000 K ≥ 333 M
'White' or 'Bright White' 3500 K 286 M
'Cool white' 4000 K 250 M
'Daylight' ≥ 5000 K ≤ 200 M
The "daylight" spectrum (5000k+) is best for vegging, while the soft white spectrum is best for flower. Hope this helps!
