Depends on the circuit breaker really, if you know a electrician have him or her have a look at the box and if it needs a bigger switch they can do it in 10 minutes, just make sure it's got a safety switch. If anyone queries you just say you have high powered audio equipment.

You'll be ok as long as you go to the breaker box (if it's still fuses I wouldnt trust it) find a 20 amp circuit preferably (15 amp will work but 20 is better) shut the designated breaker off. Go into your apartment and find out what outlets shut off. Plug somthing into all of them and verify. Use one of those outlets. Plug a heavy duty surge protector in and run your light and fan off that. Nothing else. Dont plug anything into any of the outlets except maybe a lamp with efficint bulb if you have to. Then you will be ok. I'm an electrician and I'm telling you that's the safest way to do it. Plus you don't want those breakers tripping and stressing out the girls.

I just seriously doubt you will have that kind of power available. Even if the box did, you would have to have a sub box put in. Wont be able to do that. Like someone said.. put a 4 or 600 in there plus other things like fans etc will max you out alone.

Some of them ballasts can get turned down to 600w and 600 is most efficient, that's what I use. Put it this way, I have 3 space heaters going in my house all the time during the day to supplement our propane heat. Each of them is 1500watts in addition to what I'm running. So ya know. You could always ask landlord and tell them u got a space heater or something.

The standard home if it's up to date, each room will usually support 1500-2000 watts before tripping. Usually one breaker 15amp per room and each room with 4-6 outlets. Sometimes kitchen and living room more with bigger breakers. This is just how it is in my home and most in my area.

I think it's a terrible idea. What if a pipe bursts and maintanence barges in when your out of the house. Just not smart. But if yor determined to do it. Maybe try running your light off power from your bathroom and all your other equiptment off the bedroom. Don't use the bathroom exuast fan or alot of power in there so you don't trip it. Just don't run it all of one bedroom. But my opinion in a small apartment, a 1000 watt light and the fans, pumps or whatever else is going to be a big electric bill. That along with your ac running more to keep up with the heat.

Not all appts have shit power boards .

My youngest son lived in a appt before we bought him a house & his outlets in his living room were enough to power 2 class A/B monoblock amplifiers that were 600 watts each , plus another few hundred watts running sources & preamp he was right around 1,500 watts & had no problem .

If ya want to test the outlet do as descdibed above where you shut down & test each circuit plug in a 1,500 watt hair dryer on high & leave it on for an hour , if that power hog dont trip a breaker a 1,000 watt light never will .

see i figured if i didnt run the washer and dryer and just did my laundry at a colonial laundry mat it would help

get your immediate neighbors in on it.

then drill holes through your common walls for the extension cords. run extension cords everywhere, then roll with fluorescents and maybe (2) 400's and (6) 600's. blow that shit up, but have a fire extinguisher handy.

don't bother with carbon filters. You'll have harvested before the management or popo shows up, then you can do shit right next time. good luck
