Will switching from hps to led stress my plants?

No it won't stress your plants out. When you change a spectrum there is what's known as a spectral transition where in the plant acclimates itself to the new spectrum. Which usually takes about a week.

If your led is too close to the canopy it will stunt and slow growth.. you want them about 18 -24 inches from the canopy. Hitting about 800-1000 ppfd

Ime, intensity has more of an effect on plants when changing dramatically than spectrum does.

I'm with you on that. My led was awesome for veg but flowering took longer and yielded less for me. Like you said though, could have simply been the wrong led 'cause my temps still weren't all that low! Had to upgrade my vent system for all light systems.
You obviously had low quality LEDs. Led yields more watt for watt than hps. But only if you are using high efficiency LEDs.

I'm also willing to bet you were comparing an LED that used a quarter or less of the output of whatever hid you were using.

People don't seem to understand that you still have to pull comparable amounts of light to have an accurate comparison of yield. Comparing a 300 watt led(100-120watt actual draw) to a 400, 600, or 1k watt hps doesn't even begin to make a fair assessment of whether one is better than the other.

Comparing 6-10 X 300 watt LED panels to 1 X 1k watt hps would be a more accurate comparison with these Mars and other low quality led panels.

100% led, have 2 plants left to harvest this cycle and an already around 1 gpw.

Why don't you bring in cold air from outside, or push the heat outside, with the cool air you should be able to run anything as long as you got a decent enough fan to push or pull some air, seems like a major downgrade with LED, I've used led's during flower and there junk compared to what a hps light does, im not saying all the Led's are the same but the one I had sucked for flowering but was good for vegging. I would upgrade the 4inch fan to a 6-8inch you can always turn it down if need be and get a reducer for the size.

What stage is your plant in? Try not to disturb plants in their early flowering, you'll lose yield and maybe create hermaphrodites in the process.
Use a narrow spectrum LED, introducing it for 3 days along with HPS (if you can dim them both), then slowly removing the HPS. But any stress is un warranted in the flowering stage, my man.

These two ideas put together. Supplement the 400 watt with LED light as well, use outside air to cool the room. Blast'em with extra light. Dial in the other variables in anticipation of higher yield provided from the doubled lighting.
 
I know sounds dumb. For me & my eyeballs it looks weird like a bunch of lights all hodge podge together. Well I saw on YouTube some fair comparison of led vs HP's. So I just getting another 300w Led. My first indoor. I still have a lot to learn only true life experience can provide that. I still got_2-3 wks till flip. Ha so I think!
 
Sorry I meant I saw a side by side comparison of final product Led vs HP's. It looked the same all the way around

OK now I' m really confused some are saying Led OK for flower. Others swearing no they give no good yields. God now my confidence is shaky for I soon need to flip! Have a 300w going now & Iplan to add another 300w. You guys!
LMBO!! Just looks like you have to make sure you have the "right" led!! LOL! Clearly they can get the job done babe. I am impressed as hell by what I have seen in this thread!
 
I like the amount of heat it puts out. Not much! Easy for me to control the environment. 78-80°& humidity like 40-60%. I getting another 300w I have to decide something. Time is of the essence! Besides I only have 3 lassys anyway. If I don't produce good I will adjust. Just want to keep simple first run & all
 
Mixing led and hps is fine. Make sure to wear glasses in there.


Those are cob led. Diy most likely. There's vero 29 cobs, cree cxb 3070, and cree cxb3590 cobs. Pacific Iight concepts has the best pre built cob leds out. Then there's tasty led, a51, and a few others. Go on you tube. @Growmau5 has videos that he breaks down in a simplified way on how to build them. He explains each step thoroughly. @Greengenes707 has a video of how to build a 200w cob panel.

Cobs are one of the most efficient lighting right now.
 
Oh hun I'm no scientist or engineer! Omg too complex for me! This is me go to amazon & click click on the way! Sometimes shipping can take 10 days to get here. Or I pay almost double for grow accessories up here not much selection either. I can get fox f products good $.

Its actually pretty simple once you know the steps. Like I said growmau5 breaks it down in a simplified way. You just solder cables together and mount cobs with adhesives to heat sinks. Add or don't add fans. Just watch them. Whether you build them or not , either way you'll gain some knowledge. It's cheaper to build than buy them pre built.

Don't even get me started on collecting seeds lmao. I have too many. I like having a a wide variety of genetics though. We don't know what the future holds with these seed companies. It's good have a stocked up supply. .
