Will Plant pot size affect plants harvest?

I am at the moment using a 5 litre plant pot and i thought transfering the plants to 12L buckets with drainage holes at the bottom would increase my yield and harvest? Am i right on this one???

People can grow impressive plants with small pots, but its much easier with larger pots yes. I think the rule of thumb for indoor growing is 1 gallon per expected foot of plant

A bigger pot will grow bigger roots, bigger roots mean bigger/healthier plants because more room for the roots to exspand. So yes if the plant is in a bigger pot you are most likely to have a bigger harvest. . . hope this helps

Thanks, iv now using a 12 litre bucket from B&Q £1.48 each and put 5 holes in the bottom with a boiling hot screw driver rather than the 7 litre pot i normally use. All my harvests have been total shit small airy buds not even half an ounce!

Many factors affect yield. What kind of lights are you using and how far from the foilage are they? How long are they in veg for at what light cycle? Bagseed or did you order them from a breeder? What kind of dirt? What nutes? etc etc

The size of the pot is important but not as important as most other factors.

yes man the 7 l pots i got a 1.5 oz dried and 12 l i get 3 to 4 oz dried and its easier

DEPENDS ON HOW LONG YOU VEG. A HUGE POT can harm your plants as well.. If you wanna be Picky about pot size. ITS BEST to TRANSPLANT from Party cups, to 1gal, to 3gal to 5+gal . In reality but most dont have the time or even veg that long. PLANTING A SEED in 5GAL POT WILL DO MORE DMG THAN GOOD. plants like to Make FAT ROOT BALLS before expanding. so a seedling in a 5gal pot MAY NEVER get the rootmass it wants/needs

Small pots constrict potential growth.
Lighting, space, nutes and type of soil also matter, as well as other environmental conditions that need to be satisfied; such as fresh air and humidity controls. The longer the veg cycle you give it with proper upkeep, the bigger the plant can potentially become.
Smart Pots provide best drainage and aeration for soil grows.
If you have the room, go with at least a 7 gallon pot. Im workin on 10 to 15's minimum.

well i did veg them for 2 months while i had auto flowering plants on the go although i was using a 7l pot at that point. it was only today i tranfered them into 12l buckets and they are noe on day 4 of 12/12. the plants are white ice, california orange and purple haze, the purple haze kind of smells like lemon abit when pruneing??

has the shape of a pot really been shown to make a difference in plant shape and not simply plant size?

It is completely retarded to say that large pots can do the plant harm.. dirt is dirt.. the more room the more the roots can grow. Why do you think Oak Trees get so big? I usually always transfer youngins to 5 gals. Awesome harvest every time.

You just can't over water it. If there is too much room for growth and the dirt is constantly wet. The roots won't search for water.. If you know how to water a 5 gal. pot it's not that big of a deal... although I wouldn't plant a seed in a five gal.

Who said anything about 5 gallon pots?*
*I don't know gallon/ltre rates

Basically. They got by environment. If it is in a small pot it will only grow so big, hence only yield so much. The more dirt. The more room. The biggest the plant. The more growth the more bud. I usually grow then 3-4 feet indoor in 5 gals.. then move them outside and plant them into the grown to begin flowering. I usually get a nice yield. Sun = Ultimate Lumens. I don't care what anyone says.

All I'm saying is only Use 5gal. If you need. Otherwise your plants may never create a huge football and fill the pot, if not the obvious waste of soil.. it really depends on plant size and age. If you veg 1mo. 3gal is plenty. Shouldn't effect size. If you veg for like 11wks diff story

Im using 2.5 gal buckets for 2 monthes veg 2monthes flower.
They will still be root bound.
To stop the circle of death I use some DIY Airpots.

7 gal. veg/flower for me. I plan on 12 hours outside. 12 hours in darkness inside.
