Will my pump be suitable to run DWC?

So basically I am on a low budget and want to create a basic DWC system with 2 sites to grow 2 plants. I have the reservoir with lid, I spray painted the outside black as it was clear to begin with.

The pump I have is a powerful pump but I originally used it to run a fountain in my parents yard. I now have this pump and it can either pump water through it, or if I leave it not-submerged, it runs air through the pump.

It has no airstone but is hooked up to a rather large tube to output. Would this pump work for a basic DWC or should I look into getting a more-legit pump with an air stone?

i would look into getting a regular oxygen pump with a stone, if you are only doing one setup this is a very cheap investment and you wont be disappointed in the long run. in dwc that pump is the foundation of the whole system.

Understandable.
I know the local hydro store sells pumps with dual out (I could run two airstones) for only something like 13 bucks. So it isn't a bad investment at all.

Yeah i don't think that pump is meant to pump air, it will fail shortly i believe. An air pump is an area you don't want to skimp, spend as much as you can afford to, you will be grateful.

Definitly invest in a good air pump. Also if you can manage it get a U.P.S. "uninteruptable power supply" they are cheap and you will be gratefull to have it when your power goes out. Plants won't last long without air.
