Will my home made grow box work okay?

Put a space heater in the room outside the box, but not too close. As much as you want to grow, I don't believe it is worth the risk of burning down your home.

Yeah def not, I left the heat lamp on all night already with a jug of watter handy to see what would happen and it seemed to work alright and nothing got "TOO" hot but still if you guys dont think its safe ill reconsider. which leaves me to my previous question.

The box is 4 feet tall and about 3 wide. should i used two 24 inch tubular grow lights? will they do the job?

Pretty kewl dude. I also think that if you get the growing bug and I am reasonably sure you will. You will quickly grow out of it and want something more designed for the purpose of growing. Best of luck! +rep for joining the ranks of cannabis farmers.

Im glad someone else brought up the heat lamp issue... I was getting worried having gone through so many posts without anyone mentioning it. Not just bad, HORRIBLE idea to use a heat lamp for so many reasons.
No disrespect, and no I didnt even look at the links to your pics (to insert a pic, click the icon of a picture -between the globe with the X and the flimstrip- click insert from computer or URL and browse to the file) but I would really suggest reading up on what kind of lighting you plant to use as well as nutrients/medium and general set-up before even germinating your first seed. Read read read, think of a question you might have about something and type it into Google with the word forum and you will get results from here as well as the other ganja forums (lots of good lighting info at the aquarium/reef forums also if you get into T5's) Im assuming that $ is an issue and you're working on a budget or you would have more than a cardboard box and a few cfl's. So to avoid wasting a ton of money changing your setup as you learn more and improve your techniques, read more first, learn all you can until you would consider yourself an expert, THEN spend the money you have budgeted on what you KNOW will work well. Read ALOT of other grows and watch how they progress to see what you should expect. Its good that youre ambitious and are starting a truly rewarding hobby, but if money is a concern, you will do much better to wait and read up while you plan out your grow. Stop and write down everything (EVERYTHING) that you will need from soil/soil conditioners/nutrients/pesticides/lighting for the full life cycle (Flowering needs alot more/different light than veg) ventilation/ph adjust/timers/ etc etc etc (you wont get it all)... it will cost quite abit more than you may think. It sucks to have healthy plants coming along and all of a sudden you need more light or an intake fan or some necessity that comes up and you cant get it. Its better to have everything layed out first. I grow hydro and when I first started I killed a few due to ph issues because I had no PH down and was broke, I started before I was ready. When I first started I had 2 23w cfl's, now Im pushing 1400w. Just my 2cents.

LOL! No dude, not talking about mites. I meant the growing bug...as in addicted to growing. Nothing to do with insects at all.
