I think the medical side will fade away. I doubt anyone is going to invest in the R&D for something they cant patent. To clarify 'anyone' being big pharma or any large corp with the resources to do so.

I am expecting a lot more acceptance of cannabis as medicine with legalization. I think Grandma or old Uncle Bob might be more willing to try cannabis to fix what ails them when they know it's legal and can walk into a store and buy it. They no longer need to have that uncomfortable talk with their doctor to try it out. It will take a generation for the stigma to fade, but once someone tries it and has success treating their pain or what-have-you, they will be telling their non-cannabis using friends.
It'll be interesting to see if doctors continue to 'prescribe' or whether it will be considered a 'natural health product'?

Why do we need to fight? If it's legal and patients can obtain exemptions for plant counts, what's the problem? I haven't heard anyone say anything is going to change and you're the first person I've heard say medical is 'fading'. I can't predict what will happen in the future (as evidenced by my losing Lotto Max ticket) , but I don't see any changes in the near future. I think the focus is off patients as the country tries to figure out recreational, but we all know the fight we put up to get to this point. This is a culmination of 40 years of pro-legalization activism in various forms for me. It sure as fuck isn't the system we want, but it one HUGE step for Canadian cannabis users. I'm going to enjoy what we've earned while continuing to push for changes. We might have a whole new government in 18 months and Sheer is likely going to try to reverse legalization. ..THEN we fight.

Israels are world leaders at studying weed for medical use... Your country is still lagging a bit. Would have thought the Jews were more conservative, but in this one instance they are actually going down the right path...probably for the wrong motivation though.

Well said & I fully agree, legalisation is only the first step in breaking down the stigma. We had to start the process & despite all the problems & flaws with C-45 it's a lot better then it could have been. I keep comparing it to the original MMAR which was a true horror.
Expecting it to go from being completely illegal to being treated like tomatoes is unrealistic. Black rights, women rights & gay rights have all been recognised for generations & those communities are still fighting for equality. We still have a long way to go but that doesn't mean we haven't come a long way. At least police chiefs aren't saying pot = murder anymore, baby steps.

Sure but there's a lot less issues. We've had seatbelts for ever but some people still ignore the laws & act irresponsibly. Roadside testing is a huge issue they should have been more proactive about, it's a good example of how they've dropped the ball. That doesn't mean we throw the baby out with the bath water, just that we still have work to do.

It’s a stupid argument the impairment angle.
People that get stoned and drive are already doing it. Not to mention the how stoned are they breathalyzer Is never gonna he made or stand up in court.
And why would med pot pave the way for complete legalization and then get cancelled? If everyone and their dog can grow 4 plants how could they argue a drs opinion that u need more? And argue to who?med pot has already won in every level of court. That ls the only reason even patients can grow let alone rec smokers
