Will light degrade my bud during the dry?

I have one plant now and more to come drying above my 1000w light - where they don't get directly lighted but where they are still in the room with the 12/12 light. The circulation and temp up there are perfect and the smell goes straight out my filter. So I love the spot. I've read they should be dried in darkness though??
