will i trim my babys

what is the best thing to do to keep my plants small and bushy i have 3 northern lights and 4 bb blue cheese in a dr80 grow tent its 1m x 1m x1.8m with a philips master son-t pia 250w hps and a small fan and extractor fan they are alittle over a foot tall and lookin healthy but how do i keep them from growing outwards wtih so little room to play with is it better to top it or hust trim the outer part of im really not sure what to do i want to start putting the light on 12\12 before they get to big any help would be much appreciated

Top them if you want to keep them short and bushy, could increase yield and keep them small, I would personally top and ScrOG them.

Realize that once you go to 12/12 they will tend to stretch for a couple weeks. Scrog is a really easy way to limit the height of your babies while allowing the lower bud sites to get up into the canopy.
If you're not comfortable with Scrog, look into Uncle Bens topping technique.

this is my first grow i have seen the sog method im not to sure how to go about it like i said they are just over a foot tall and im not far off starting to flowering them because of the lack of space if i top them how long would i have to leave it before i put it on 12\12 or can it be done at anytime i dont want to wreck them they look so good i just dont think i have the space i will post pics tomorow of plants in tent havnt got a camera handy at the min

I sounds like you might be confusing these two methods of growing - let me see if I can help.
Sog (Sea of green) = Lollypopping lots of very young plants with the intent to harvest 1 main cola from each.
Scrog (Screen of green) = Growing one or several under a screen, training the taller tops to stay low while the remainder of the tops reach the canopy.

I prefer the Scrog method as plant limits can screw you if you Sog with a number above what you are legally allowed to grow (easy to do).
A bit more time involved with a Scrog, but IMHO its the way to go for me.

alrite so i was wondering why sog wasnt makin sense to me i think i will go with the scrog after lookin it up i am impressed thanks a lot will put up pics to show how its goin

if you are growing for a personal smoke amount..i wouldnt use uncle bens topping..top at a nice spot and you will still get some nice big colas maybe more than 4.
