Will I Need an AC for 2000 Watt Grow

will i need ac if i have 2 xxxl magnum 1000w lamps, the ballasts are outside the room and the 2 lights are cooled by 1 400cfm inline fan. i have 2 oscillating fans in the room that wont bring down the temps and co2 enrichment. the ambient temp in the garage that this growroom is peaks at 85 degrees at the hottest part of the day. growroom is made out of osb on outside, insulated with r13 fiberglass and panda film over the insulaton room is sealed.

im going to want to say yes on this one... if the ambient temp is 85 you can expect it to be well over 20 degrees warmer in there w lights running. im running a 2x3x5 grow tent right now in a room with window AC and i have to keep my ambient room temps 10 degrees or so under what i am aiming for inside the grow space. i'm using 400w light too.

outside temperatures here past couple weeks have been 82-90 w/ decent humidity

edit- my ac is 5000 btu got for 100 bucks at walmart

i run a 8k btu portable A/c unit.. found it on craigslist for 100 bucks.. best investment i made

You will probably need an AC...I run 2 400w in the same room and have to run an AC or it gets a good bit too hot. The lights make a lot of heat.

i wouldnt be worried about temps in that range if your using co2 on a hydro setup.
if your using soil, your going to need some ac

edit:
i say that assuming your ambeint temp readings were taken at the end of an 18 hour lights on cycle. if your temps are that high with lights off, your going to need ac...

iv got a 2000watt grow with a 6inch vortex fan hooked up to the air cooled hoods and my tents temperatures are equal or 1-2 degrees more than the outside air which is bad when its 91 degrees outside.

i need to look into an A/C also i just wish they could suck lots of fresh air from outside and then be ducted into a tent so i dont have to seal everything off and run c02

you should look into a yeti. htg supply sells them you can duct the ac to right where you need it.

they dont even show them on the online website but if you happen to live near one maybe theyll hook you up. its like $450 but looks badass

soil doesn't run warmer.
however, plants aspirate at a more prolific rate at higher ambeint temps.this isnt a bad thing, you will find that the higher temps tend to produce a more rapid growth, especially during veg. this is why co2 works best @ higher temps.... plant metabolizes faster.
when using soil, this makes watering and feeding a challenge; you will learn all about salt buildup, soil compaction and nute lockout the hard way.
hydro, provides the ability to deliver more h2o to the plant than soil, therefore, negating most of the concerns you would have when using soil at higher temps.

this is basic botany at a high school level.

wait so is it better to have temp at a higher or lower level. im in soil and what do i want my room temps to be in a co2 enriched environment at 1500 ppm? I have always heard that plants have more potential in hotter temps with co2 optimized but all of the old timers i know like to keep their temps low even with co2 and their yield don't appear to be suffering.

My answer is no for the AC... I ran 4 XXXL Magnums in a 10x12 and didnt have any AC. Are your 2 hoods in a straight line? If so get a 6'' vortex put it in the middle of ur two hoods. Suck fresh air in from OUTSIDE your grow room(this is key) push that across your hoods and then out through your exhaust. A good air cooled set up should not increase your room temp more than 5-10 degrees. Now I had my room in the basement which was no hotter than 75 so even up 10 degrees only brought me to 85... on a very very hot day 90 but a couple days of high temps wont kill anything. With CO2(Im going to be starting my first closed grow with CO2) you're gonna want to cool your hoods with air from outside the room or else your just going to be sucking in the CO2 and spitting it out your exhasut = wasting CO2 & $$

ya my hoods are in a straight line but there is no way for me to hang my inline fan inbetween them because i have to lower the lights a bit from the ceiling. im reading "CO2 ENRICHMENT GUIDE" on some other website and it says temps are ideal at 90-95 in 1500 ppm co2. that doesnt sound right to me :/

The vortex comes with some metal plates that mount to the fan so you can hook them up to a raise/lower pulley system just like the lights. I prefer to just mount all my stuff and move my plants up rather than dealing with raising and lowering the lights. Long story short you will still be able to raise lower your lights with a vortex fan between them. I plan on aiming for 80-85 for CO2.

Yeti AC's can be used in sealed rooms and not suck out the CO2???
