Most institutions don't allow their patients access to weapons.

I mean, our mental sanitariums are in the open streets. we closed and keep closing programs, and hospitals for people to find help. or make it out of reach because of cost.

the fact that he used a GUN, if the very least of the problems in this incident. why people keep pointing at guns is beyond me, because if its one thing we know for a fact, is gun laws don't work

if someone really set their mind to harming people, I would think guns would only be a small part of it.

just think of what he could have done, by jumping the curb smashing the chain link fence and driving a food truck GT5 style all over general admission.......

the fact "WHY" he chose any method to kill people, WHY he did so is what needs to be figured out.

this social aberration, of action in reason; be it crazy or malevolent is the problem.

NOT, how someone chooses to execute public acts of murderous dissention.

guns work fine, I think he proved that, what is not working is our current society and how we treat people in it.

Guns are efficient, concealable, long range, relatively cheap, and easy to access.

That's why they choose guns, and it is undeniably part of the problem.

Helping people afford and access mental health providers is another part, I'm sure we agree on that.

They are still working on the motive. But I wonder why the focus on determining "why"? Our gun laws don't prevent even a clearly demented person from owning a gun. It's nice to know but nothing can be done without changing gun laws and addressing our society's acceptance of gun violence.

it's not another part, it's the main component. Automatic rifles have existed for decades yet violence of this magnitude is a more recent occurrence. Guns haven't changed, the object is to find out what has and correct it.

if only his doctor knows about the diagnosis, can the doctor make that public? or is that covered under patient confidentiality stuff??

It would be nice to know. What would we do with the information? I don't think the NRA will allow any changes. Even when the gunman is clearly mentally disturbed as in Sandy Hook. No changes were allowed. The right even put out fake news to cloud the issue in Sandy Hook.

I advocate change but don't expect this congress to do anything.

Full background checks, mag capacity limits, registry for anything above and beyond self defense and hunting capabilities, moratorium on military grade firearms.
