Will a dehumidifier work without being in the grow tent?

Hi everyone I'm in week 3 of flowering I'm very worried about the humidity so I bought a dehumidifier my last grow turned hermie not sure if was because of the LEDs on the dehumidifier which I tried so frickin hard to cover up with tape etc but anyway its possible it could have been genetics sure but my point here is this time I'm not taking any risks so no dehumidifier inside my grow tent. But I still need to dehumidify the space so does anyone know if I can just put the dehumidifier in the room that the grow tent is in? And will it work?

If it's big enough to dehumidifier the size room it's in, yes, it should work just fine. That's actually preferred because then the tent is drawing in dry air instead of pulling in moist air into the tent and then trying to dry it out before or gets sucked out.

I have a confession to make I don't actually use an intake fan : ( because I don't have anyway of discreetly ducting fresh air from a window so my only option is to use an extractor in tent and fans for fresh air it sucks because I know ideally I need a good intake of fresh airflow etc ‍but it's too risky for me to leave a window open all tho I do leave my grow room door open where the grow tent is located so will the dehumidifier still work if put in just the grow room? Not tent ? After all the tent is still using the air that's in the room right? Lol

That's fine, but you will just be cycling the air around in circles give or take. If you have crazy high humidity or high temps, that can become a new battle. I have no intake fans. Just exhaust. I have 2 tents in my bedroom that just recycle air. I have one in the bathroom that is now exhausted outside. The bathroom was really rough before I exhausted it outside. It would get 90+ in the bathroom and it reached 100+ in the tent a few times. All that to say, it can be done. Just be vigilant with temps and humidity.

Wow sounds rough luckily mine exhausts out of the room through a small bathroom window which isn't too far so all that hot air escapes so that's why I leave the door open during day and yea temp and humidity levels would be a problem luckily it's not completely out of control although naturally I do live with higher humidity levels in the room so that's why I need to find out if a dehumidifier will work without it going inside the tent lol I'm hoping it will but like u say it just recycling air and I don't think it's that much of an issue the room is fairly sized my last grow was great huge fat sticky smelling buds until they hermied on me and had to harvest in week 6 this is why I can not take the risk with the dehumidifier inside the tent this time.

Volcano girl sounds mad I'm going to Google it lol what's she smell like? Is she loud? Is she a good smoke? Is she pretty? Lol she sure does look it but them buds look fat and beautiful lol

It was my first actual grow. She was a beautiful plant. Smoke was meh. I don't chalk it up to the genetics entirely. I didn't pull my weight on the grow, im sure. They were cheap beans to learn how to grow and they definitely taught me some stuff.

I can only do that during lights on otherwise I might risk a light leak? If I keep door open during night ? Still I don't think it has to be to exacting its just a case of making sure there all doing well and healthy getting water air extraction etc lol

Lol when you say meh? U mean it wasn't all that? Right I'm growing ice cream cake and 1 bonus seed which is bubbas gift

Trial and error I picked crap ish strains on my first grow strawberry gum and fruit salad and candy cheese from delicious seeds was the 2 that hermied lol

Yeah. I'm not a smoker. I tried it out. Got me high, but not blasted. My brother who smokes regularly, called it mids at best. Lol. I'm sure if I grew it again, it would be better, but im not too worried about it. Now that I am more confident in my grow, I don't mind paying a touch more for beans.

I put a 5 gal bucket ontop of my dehumidifier with weather stripping on the bottom. Attached duct to it and and ran it into the tent. It works well.
