Wife wants a closet: advice needed

Idea 1.jpg
Ok, so here is the idea. After several weeks of research and never have grown before this is what I have come up with. I have an 'L' shaped walk in closet, 8' high. We want to close the back half off by making a mylar zip up door(all walls will be mylar as well). This way we can walk into the closet still, but have to unzip to enter our grow room.

This will be a stealth growroom, so the closet is off of our bedroom bathroom which no one needs to enter. The downfall is there is no window or ventilation. Cutting ito the ceiling is not an option, yet. The intake and exhaust will just be connected to the mylar door, bathroom locked but will be able to open closet door for fresh air.

The floor will be built up with wood and plastic for overflow of water and such. It will be a soil grow room.

With that being said, in the grow room I will have a 600 watt switachable HPS/MH with cool tube like http://www.accesshydroponic.com/product.php?productid=140&cat=26&page=2 . The set up in the grow room will be "can 66 filter----->6" 312 CFM can fan-------->light----->exhaust. Intake 4" 142 CFM can fan and a corner fan in corner to blow and mix air.

I am a little concerned on how dry the upstairs in. Thinking a cheap humidifier can fix this? I'll buy a thermometer/hydrometer to check the air.

I have been studying soil as well, leaning towards fox farms for nutes and soil but that's a discussion for later.

Before I start I wanted to ask the experts their thoughts. I don't want to blow money on an idea that won't work. Please post your advice and opinions. Am I over doing the ventilation, under doing the light, can I get 4 to 6 plants with this set up?

Your advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks for helping us newbies enter the fun of home grown buds.

your plan is flawed.

the area that you are exhausting into will become very warm very quickly making your intake air warm as you will be feeding air in from the exhaust area causing a loop where old warm Co2 depleted air will be getting fed back into your grow via your intake .

It is a common mistake that everyone makes but never listens to advice.

RULE #1
Remove old air as far away as possible

RULE #2
Keep fresh air FRESH. This does not have to be outside air it can be ambient house air.

If you do not separate exhaust and intake into 2 different areas then you will start having uncontrollable heat issues as your exhaust will be heating up that area to around 38C / 100F and your intake fan will just be blowing all that hot air back in.

So, if changing the exhaust to go into ceiling to attic, everything else looks good. Light strong enough, fans good, etc. etc. Thanks alot for pointing out flaw #1, should be an easy fix.

I guess I will run with this idea then. I was hoping for a little more feedback but thanks to those who responded. We will start investing into our new idea and start building and fix any other flaws on the way. Once we get some ladies headed towards the light I will send pics.

Venting into attic will cause major mold problems in your attic. Hot air meets cold air in attic = damp molded mess. And yes you can use metal halide from start to finish. In my experiences MH produces more resin.

if the attic is large enough & properly vented,it wont be a problem,if not,the bathroom will have an exhaust vent & it should be vented outside, why not T into it? you will need a flapper on the bathfan side to prevent air from the grow looping back into the bathroom.

instead of spending big bucks on a first grow why not try bagseed and miracle grow organic. check out this thread

a lot of posts but MG organic came out on top.

a cheap humidifier should solve your problem but if humidity is not too low, a open bucket of water will help as well

a 600 watt MH or HPS will work but is overkill for a few seedlings, why not start them under a few CFLs?
