Why's this so pricey?

i think it's stupid. it's sooooooo easy to make seeds. once you get the strain stable just pollinate it. this is as silly as the $1000 clones in LA.

yea but how would i get ahold of the plant to make seeds without getting the seeds first. Or knowing someone who did.

True, true....
A lot of the pricing of seeds (and growth aid merchandise) can also be attributed to ultra slick marketing and hype!!!:spew:

Everytime I see a thread like this, it reminds me of the weed and friend and I smoked back in the early 70s. Grown in a vacant lot in San Diego from one seed out of a bag of Mexican pot, this weed was like a mescaline trip ... no lie. The most potent, visual effects type of pot ever. One pinner between the two of us put us on Mars for six hours straight.

I'd give $1000 for just one rooted cutting of that plant. Then I'd sell the product to you guys for a grand an ounce ... and you'd all be begging for more. ~lol~

$475 lbs for 10 seeds? So thats like almost $1,000 USD

Whats up with that? anybody tried it?
Why shouldn't they charge a thousand bucks for ten seeds? Maybe a couple of idiots will buy them. Maybe more than a couple. Think of the profit they'd make on a handful of people with more money than sense. Can the cost of production and distribution of these Magic Beans be much more than their less expensive offerings? How much more? If the thousand dollar seeds sell, look for fifteen hundred dollar seed coming your way soon.

Have you heard of the Dutch Tulip Mania? This passage is from Tulip mania - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia :
"In 1623, a single bulb of a famous tulip variety could cost as much as a thousand Dutch florins (the average yearly income at the time was 150 florins). Tulips were also exchanged for land, valuable livestock, and houses. Allegedly, a good trader could earn six thousand florins a month.
By 1635, a sale of 40 bulbs for 100,000 florins was recorded. By way of comparison, a ton of butter cost around 100 florins and "eight fat swine" 240 florins. A record was the sale of the most famous bulb, the Semper Augustus, for 6,000 florins in Harrlem.
By 1636, tulips were traded on the stock exchanges of numerous Dutch towns and cities. This encouraged trading in tulips by all members of society, with many people selling or trading their other possessions in order to speculate in the tulip market. Some speculators made large profits as a result. Others lost all or even more than they had."
.
My opinion? They're just looking for gullible boys on the way to the fair, who may be willing to exchange a cow, or "eight fat swine", for a few beans.
Then again, maybe it's just a typo.

Seeds are expensive for the same reason weed is expensive: prohibition. If we could all share openly without fear of prosecution, the prices would compare to regular seeds you buy from Burpee or Park's. Come to think of it, they would probably have some pretty good shit themselves. Prohibition directly affects supply and demand.

Economics 101. Proven economic theory is very reasonable.

How is my statement reckless?

Did you know 'gullible' is not in the dictionary?

Ive dealt a lot with this subject in the reptile area.

Lets translate it and maybe you guys will understand it better.

10 years ago a PIEBALD BALL PYTHON went for 50-100K dollars. Yup thats right 50-100K

The reason being was that only one guy had the gene stock for it. He knew that people would want it and the price was up enough to generate intrest.

In reptiles people regularly pay loads of money to be in on the ground floor of something like that. Its an investment purchase.

Today you can buy a piebald ball python for less than 2000 dollars even if its an exquisite specimen.

So you see..........this guy thinks he has the piebald ball python. For all I know he does. He may have created a strain of them and worked on it for 3 years to achieve it. He is selling what he can for the highest price he can get as he knows that in a couple years there will be a flood of them on the market (if its as good as he thinks it is) and basicaly worthless for the seeds.

Not to mention that its a lot less risky to sell seeds instead of weed. But he actually has less product that people really want.

Not too many people can keep a house plant alive let alone grow fine ass weed

Do you know any strains similar to this one that you described? I'll pay big bucks for something like that.
