Why some clone die when planted?

I think he'd be better off putting those in solo cups for 2 weeks before that large container. In solo cups you can keep em in a dome with higher RH for a few days whole the root system grows out a bit inside the solo cup.
Yes, but if he cut the root as soon as it reached 4 inches it would cause more roots to grow and bush out of the stem. Then he wont need a cup.

Actually that pic is from one of the survivors, the others had a couple more, but yea mostly just one long root, so you think I should trim that root and let it sit in clone bucket longer? Otherwise the root is in water? Or just leave it?
That's not your issue. It's your watering technique.

Ok thanks, next round of cuttings I'll let em root more first. No biggie! Just a personal learn as you grow for me.

Reason for bottom watering is to defeat fungus gnats, which it did 100%. Mothers are 100% happy so I just figured to do same with clones.

Please enlighten me?
If you water where there's roots it will work.

That huge pot and ONE root. I'm wont argue over what his issue is. I gave my advice. GL.
Not arguing.........you can have a few little roots and water it correctly it will grow. If that happened they wouldn't have made this thread. Yes in a smaller pot that would have happened. But still can be accomplished in a larger pot.

Just water the circumference of the hole you dig to start.......then gradually move out in future waterings.

If the gnats come back you can put a 2cm layer of horticultural sand on top. It'll block them from reaching the soil to lay eggs.
As much as I like bottom watering, with young clones I would stick to top watering until they're well established.
