You would be the num skull to not know what it means when your plants starving. But your still giving it water and food. Or when it looks overwater but is bone dry. Stop making me laugh

Worthless advice?

Hey all, first grow ever and I truly need some opinions here. A buddy of mine gave me this "dry amendment" schedule to follow so that I don't risk nute burning, etc. Can someone tell me if this is a horrible idea? Basically, starting off with Black and Gold Organic Perlite Earthworm...

Lol we all start somewhere...I've had many runs since that now and learned from my mistakes. Sorry you're still making so many.

just to beat on the issue of people saying things are always rootbound, this still had long way to go before being rootbound. This is also an example I would use to show what happens when you don't give something enough light.

this last comment you made shows how truly greenhorn you are. Snd that’s ok!!!!

Does water run-off flow or, not flow is a huge piece of the puzzle.
Every detail matters.
Does it run out instantly and pool up in saucer?=underwster.
Does run off come out15 minuteish after watering and stick around? Over water. Right in the middle. Typically just right

It is a huge part of the puzzle.

I also agree watering everyday can lead to great results however there are not many growers in the learning stage that will get it right IMO and I would feel newer growers would be better off not doing it that way until they have experience growing healthy plants using the wet dry method of watering every few days.

@MonkeyRides If it was my plant I'd transplant and go water only for a while. Cal/mag is for growers who are using RO or have tap with little or no calcium in it. If you're using tap that has high levels of calcium you don't want to be giving it cal/mag.
You need to find out if your water already has a sufficient amount of Ca and Mg. In some cases hard water should be mixed with RO because it has too much Ca.

By chance, did you just turn on the lights when you took that pic?? Looks like it. Typical "sleeping" droop.

Do they droop like that after 12-18 hrs under your light?

I agree. Being rootbound is not necessarily a problem. It surely doesn't cause all these symptoms many think it does. Most problems are caused by the growers feeding and watering practices and are completely avoidable.

I personally didn't like working with Black Gold organic. I did a run with it over the summer, but have happily moved on to ProMix which is being much easier to use.

I had similar droop in my Solos with it (though it obviously could have been a number of reasons), but once transplanted they were fine.

This time around I did ProMix and larger starter pots and didn't have any troubles.

I used to use Black Gold, just hard to find…..meaning my local hydro store been out and I don’t like any of places in surrounding areas

I actually ordered mine online. I added perlite, but really didn't love it. Also, I personally don't love the feel of 'don't how much nutrient support' you get with soils like this. Much happier with ProMix, which is pretty neutral and I can control what the plants get by what I feed them. Though I know lots of people love the organic stuff.

Over watered, root bound possibly. I transplant autos once they’ve got one set of true leaves, heard they can be triggered into early maturation by getting rootbound not sure if it’s bs or not but I figure even if it is ain’t gonna hurt em.
