why r they so small

hey there i got some seeds from internet they were a fem mix so not sure what i got. These pic are of them at 5 weeks they are both about 4-5 inches tall. using mg soil and 2 400w mh for veg will be using 1 mh and 1 hps both 400w for flower. my avatar is a pic of them and sig. is side view of one. cant seem to post pics in thread. not sure

here are some pic of my grow. two unknown plants got mixed fem seeds they are about 6 weeks old the first pic is of an indica strain its about 11in tall the 2nd i am lsting and will let veg about 1 more week. am using 2 400w lights for flower. one mh one hps. and a 400w for veg.the first one i put into flower yesterday.tell me what u think

hey quick question one of my plants has 12 fingers on each leaf. has anyone ever seen that before a friend said its male but bought fem seeds and it has hairs in the pistol.can anyone help tell the species.

hey man gorgous plants! if there are hairs it female. # of fingers on leaves has nothing wut so ever to do with sex, although thats rumoured alot. im not sure about the lights cuz i use cfls, but the 12 fingers is nothing to worry about. it happens all the time to alot plants. its just got one more finger to suck up the light =)

nice looking plants man. they dont look that small to me for 6 weeks. some indicas grow very slow compared to hybrids or sativas. check my journal the trainwreck and og18xskunk are like 1.5ft while the great white shark and other indicas are only 7-8 inches.
as far as I know, the blue light from a mh is beneficial but only as a supplement to hps. It will help keep the stretch to a minimum and also encourage the plant to grow a small amount while flowering. this can increase yield, but I don't know if you want 50% of your light to be mh. I'd probly just throw in the mh bulb 1 or 2 days a week if you want to give them a bit of that spectrum. again this is just what I have heard and I honestly don't know that youd notice much of a difference.

if your hps bulbs are enhanced spectrum they will likely have enough blue light in them and I would just use 2 hps in that case.

here are some new pic of the ladies the one on the right just went in yesterday. the one on the left is just over one week in. Still using 400 hps and 400 mh. just wish it wasent 10 weeks till harvest

Plant's are looking great. did you take clones before you dropped into flower? If not 10wks aint gonna be nothin when u gotta pop a seed in the dirt and start from scratch :(

The HPS/MH combo your using is fine. Theres enough threads that lead one to believe adding a MH hid into the area is beneficial since HPS is not really used by the plant for the production of chlorophyll but more for the growth of the flower. So adding a MH would tend to make you believe it would be beneficial.

I would also have to assume that using an MH during flower would also increase the amount of leaf material on your plant probably resulting in extra trimming time. (not to mention during the end of the cycle towards flush you would wan't to turn off the mh to help limit the plants production of chlorophyll).

Who knows maybe running mh/hp until close to the end of flowering then removing the MH may just send the plant into nute burning trying to catch up for the loss of the spectrum resulting in less chlorophyll & chemicals left when dry/cure process is done)

But I have no idea. just A STONED moment man :p lol

Hey thanks for the info i have really been wandering if using both would work better. i have attached a pic of my last garden only used 400hps. and they turned out alright about 2-21/2 per plant. they were about 5ft tall am trying to keep shorter and still get the same yeild. but will see . and yes i did take 6 clones 3 died but the other 3 are going strong used a different method on the 3 still alive.

if you have been reading my little journal. Thank you but my question is would i get better coverage if i used 2 400w or if i used one 1000w? am planning on replacing my mh ballast with an hps. but for a few more dollars i can just buy a 1000w. so i plan on having 6-7 plants. want them to be round 4-4-1/2 ft. will be l.s.t.ing so hoping for bushy plants(not ready for s.o.g) only second grow(legal) and am still learning the ropes. so if you havent realized im really open to info from those who know. first grow wasent bad but room for improvement. will post more pic in a day or so (i stare at them so much i cant tell if there even growing ha. well just roasted some desiel haze and am tiered of typing.
pack it smoke it repeat.....

well here are some new pic of the ladies one in the middle is the tall one in the left pic. this one is 2 wks into flower. the short one is about a week in. so far not any problems am startin two new seeds bout an hr ago. so will post pics this weekend. finally back to work full time so will post when able. also am legal so will be steping up to about 20 plants in few months just trying to figure out what method will be using. so just picked up some diesel haze, some bubba kush, p.o.g., and something called golden goat which has me pretty high. so O.......R.......E....O.
