Why isn't anyone using CERAMIC METAL HALIDE?

I am simply wondering why I don't see posts with growers using better lighting these days. I also don't see growers using SON AGRO bulbs. Why NOT? Any answer is welcome.

Just for the record I have been using SON AGRO HPS bulbs since 1992 and never looked back. I have recently started using Ceramic Metalic Halide.

I suspect the main reason is that they are newer, and most people who care about spectrum that much are already setup with specialized MH bulbs, or multiple lights. Another thing to keep in mind is that the CMH don't work with electronic (solid state) ballasts. For the past few years many people have switched from coil to solid state because they power more efficiently, so it kinda works against the way that HID growers have been migrating.

Far as that particular bulb, I'm more a fan of MH which have more bulb choices, but there are several brands of decent grow lights, I suspect there are more than that particular brand which are decent. But you have a good point, there are far too many growers who don't understand spectrum and choose sub-par grow lamps.

I was just curious? I used to use a SUN CIRCLE many years ago with two HPS and one MH on it, but then when I found better bulbs I could use all 3. I am simply just asking. I have magnetic ballasts so I can do what I want.

There are quite a few members on here using cmh as lighting, you need to browse the forum more :bigjoint:

When my current 400W MH goes pop, I will replace it with a CMH. But I only use lights as a supplement, I am mainly a SUN grower, so it could be a few years yet, LOL.
