Welcome to non-party politics.

The Tea Party was a reaction to the lies of the GOP until it was co-opted, Progressive seems to be the title of choice for disaffected Dems.
Perhaps between the people making up the formation of those 2 schisms some politicians that actually do what they say can be elected and kill the present bipartisan standard.

The whigs were once a big enough noise that they got 4 candidates elected president.
Where are they now? ;)

The party of Lincoln happened to them.

I am beginning to wonder if something similar has to happen again.

Will it even be allowed? After all, criminalising protest, even non violent protest, seems to be all the rage these days. That's an authoritarian disaster and it seems to look more likely every day.

Yes, most of the bill of rights is getting a whacking from both sides.

If what you envision possible comes to fore, it only has two outcomes.
Revolt or totalitarianism.

It doesn't have to be this way. If Democrats don't represent People, the People have every right to stand up another party. No revolt is necessary. That said, I'm not sure that those in power would let it happen.
