Why is nothing happening?

Hey everyone. About a week ago, I planted a seed that I germinated
using the paper towel method, but since I put it in soil nothing has
happened. How long should it take for it to break soil? This is my
first grow attempt so I would not be surprised if it did not work
but I'm stumped at this point. I'm keeping the soil moist and I do
have 1 light over it right now. I'm starting to think that if it has not
come out yet that it is not going to?
Any thoughts?

Just give it time. You should start more than 1 seed from now on just incase.

going thru the same thing right now, except im growing in hydro, so right now my seed, with a tap root, is inserted in a constantly kept moist rockwool cube. i have it in a warm spot with a cfl on it....kept it without light until just before posting this, cuz i read you can do it both ways succesfully...but like you i am a first timer and this is all trial and error that i will learn from.

good luck,

Ok, thanks guys. Another question- if I find seeds in
the pot I get from my buddy, can they grow, or are
they useless?:joint:

sure they can grow....but be real careful when sexing as hermies are everywhere in bag weed, depending on the quality of course.

i planted 4 bag seeds and they all sprouted in 5 days, 2 weeks later i went away for the weekend and when i came back, a 5th one had popped up beside one of the other plants, and it almost as tall as the others about 3", so i movd it to it's own pot and now it's the only one left alive. I guess point being, is that it can take up to 2 weeks to see it come through the soil.
