why is ballast resetting after 5 min?

I have an I power 600 w electronic dimmable ballast that started resetting while tending the garden. After the second time, I switched the setting back to 100% and seemed to function normally throughout the cycle. And what exactly is the "s" setting for?

Never used that model. if it has a fan and the fan quit, it's a thermal protection feature.

Its 3 years old. Im not sure if it did this from using the "s" bright setting. Last couple grows gave me no probs with these settings. Switched it nack to 100% and has not failed since. I do have replacement bulbs. Ballast may be about shot.

it sounds like an internal something is starting to go bad, a thermostat maybe. i would replace it rather than burn down your grow room

I agree. Time for an upgrade. I have a magnetic ballast ill use to finish em up. Thanks for the replies.
