why does this keep happening to my leaves?

the plants are all currently vegging whereby i leave the plants out by the windowsill to recieve all mother nature can give and then when it gets dark i place them all in cupboard under 2 20watt energy saving cfls which apparently give out 100watt of light. the lights are set up so that theres online hitting the top of the plants and another hitting the side.

im using a soil based grow and water these plants every other day because they seem to dry out quite alot. i usually use my finger as a guide to check moisture.

as for nutrients i try to avoid these however i have dilute solution of MG 15-30-15 that i use like once a week.

the lighting is not on 24 hrs a day i leave the plants on the window sill and allow mother nature to do her part and then once it get dark i place them in the cupboard with the cfls.

the plants are a month old.

You def want your girlies to get more light. Is the window open or closed? How many hrs of direct sunlight does it get? If I was you I would build a brow box out of wood or if you can find a cardboardbox big enough. Cover the inside with mylar or foil, if only available source, add 2-3 more cfls, a fan, and a temp/humidity reader. Stay on a consistint 18-6 schedule until you want to flower. Just what I would do.
You are also going to want nutes when you flower.

Also how often do you water? You may need to stop with the nutes until flower. If you have MG soil it probably has time released nutes and you should never give any any nutes until it is at least 3 weeks old.Dont go full strength of nutes either, go half or quarter, plus MG nutes will work but are not optimal for growing your girlie's. If you can order FF Nutes.......Its a piece of cake!! Good Luck!

do you have any pics of the entire plant? might just be that time where the smaller leaves on the bottom dry up.

1) Way way too many nutes, those little osmocote balls all over the first pic is slow release fertilizer, you have about 100x more than you need, Nutrient burn is causing your leaves to die.

2) You need perlite in your soil, it will provide much better drainage.

3) What dose of nutrients are you giving it? Shouldn't be any more then 1/4 the recommended.

4) watering every other day seems a bit excessive, you may be root bound, but pots look ok size, but I have no idea how big plant actually is.

5) you need more light, this is evident by the stretched main stem as it fights to get to the light, what kind of light do you use and what is its actual wattage it uses?

I would recommend a transplant into new soil, which is non fertilized top soil. make sure 1/4 of the soil is Perlite all mixed in real good. Water it thoroughly so water just begins to run out the bottom. dont just dump the whole amount of water in, make sure it gets spread around and is allowed to soak in slowly. Now let it sit with no nutes until the pot is almost totally dry or the plant has started to wilt. now water again thoroughly, this time use 1/8 the recommended amount of nutrients, wait a week and see how the plants are doing, if everything looks ok give 1/4 nutes and wait a week or 2, if all looks good go to half strength and so on.

well the weather here in the uk is not predicatable so there have been quite a few cloudy days however since plant is still getting light i let it out during the day with the window open so it can get a good breeze. i do realise that i cant rely on this source of light as it isnt enough which is why as soon as it hits dark i move all my plants into my cupboard which has the 2 cfls in it. i would say my plant gets around 16 hours of light but its a mix of daylight and cfl. i was told not to use foil as it creates heat spots therefore ive covered the inside of my entire box in blank white paper.

Did you try any of my suggestions? Cutting the leaves off won't help a thing except make it look like it has no problem.
